Aloha!

Ok I know this sounds nuts as I'm coming there to vacation, but I'd like to keep up my workouts at some local curves there. I'll be in Weilea (The Grand Weilea for a week) on Maui, and Staying at the Hawaii Prince Hotel in Honolulu as well. Does anyone know of any CURVES fitness places nearby to where I'll be? And do they welcome visitors?:)

Mahalo in advance :)
Sally

PS... Are there any near the ports in Kona, Hilo, Lahaina, Kahalui too?

Curves (http://www.curves.com/locations/results.php) has locations in Kihei (the town next to Wailea), Kahului and Lahaina on Maui.

Just in case they don't allow out-of-town members, The Hawaii Prince Hotel (http://www.princeresortshawaii.com/oahu-hotel-amenities.php#jump-fitness) and the The Grand Wailea (http://www.grandwailea.com/accommodations/services.asp) both have fitness centers. HPH is complimentary for all guests and I'm assuming TGW is the same.

The Grand Wailea has a fabulous fitness center that is also complimentary and the NCL cruiseliner should also have a fitness center onboard that's free.

Wow Thanks Everyone!! I have seen the site and the list of places but not having been there I really have no clue about where theyare in relation to where I will be with my family (Who, yes, thinks I"m nuts.. ha ha).

I started 2 months ago at Curves and have gone every week day since and will continue to do so. My mindset has improved and I have not stopped regardless of having a bad eating day, which is HUGE for me. I NEED to keep going while I'm there as we'll be there for 20 days and I can't lose track. It's a huge mindgame for me and if I dont keep it up, I"ll get back home and may not go back. And I need to go back. I know for most people that makes no sense.. but I know how my mind works and I have to stay in control.

Thank you so much for your help!! I will check out the locations and see which is closest to where we will be :)
The Grand Wailea has a fabulous fitness center that is also complimentary and the NCL cruiseliner should also have a fitness center onboard that's free.

Thank you. I'm not sure I'd know what to do in a fitness center per se.. as it's not a circuit type place.. but I'll make do if I need to for sure. But if I can find a curves nearby, I'll go that route first. I know the system down pat :)

Heck maybe I'll just swim the ocean.. ha ha

Curves (http://www.curves.com/locations/results.php) has locations in Kihei (the town next to Wailea), Kahului and Lahaina on Maui.

I'll have to use Google earth to see exactly where they are located. That program is a godsend I swear!

Thanks!!

Thanks too!! I will do this if need be, I will not be derailed by my own mind.. ha ha

No you won't. For the rest of your life, you will incorporate exercise, like you eat and bathe. Tell yourself that and will it to be. Don't even joke about quitting--because you never, ever will.

Eating local foods, luaus, etc. is a choice not a mandate. If the OP is currently eating optimally for her, she can continue to do so while in Hawaii. Curves, too. Good luck to you, Cruisin Angel. Don't be derailed by anything or anyone.

As far as I can tell the closest Curves to the Hawaii Prince is this one:
Ala Moana, HI
1585 Kapiolani Blvd., Ste. 711
Honolulu, HI 96814
(808) 942-4900
...probably less than 2 miles.

I just asked a friend here and she said the Curves in Hilo is about 3-4 miles from the port.

great point of information, JD, but the Hilo location will do little to aid a tourist visiting Wailea and HNL....:p

Aloha Pua'i Mana'o! The reason I posted that is because she asked if there was one near the ports on several islands including Hilo. She must be taking one of the cruise ships around the island.

Have a beautiful day!

you seem to understand. Thank you!! I have finally come to see that this IS for life, not for a destination.

Thank you Thank you!!! I know I'll be trying local cuisine and luau's plus ship food.. but As long as I stay focused and on track with my exercise, I"ll be ok. Besides my stomach gets all crappy on me if I eat too many fatty foods, so I know that won't happen. A little yeah.. but not totally. I want to feel great while i"m there not in bed and tossing my cookies! lol

I just asked a friend here and she said the Curves in Hilo is about 3-4 miles from the port.

WoooHooo!!! not far at all Thanks!! You guys are awesome!

Oh we'll be in Hilo too. We have a week in Maui, then a few days in honolulu where we'll board the Carnival Spirit for 12 days :) LIke I said.. it might be nuts, but I plan to hit a curves in all locations :)

The company I work at home with (Melaleuca) has a contest going on from Thanksgiving thru Jan. 31st. "Battle of the Holiday Bulge contest". Grand prize is a new car, first place is $6000 for any vacation. Second place prizes are $2000 shopping spree's. Third place... hmm I have to look that one up again.. ha ha I guess I was only interested in the first 3. They own www.vfl.com and for each pound you lose, your name is entered into the drawing 5 TIMES for the prizes!!! So even if you only lose 1 lb, you can win the car! Not bad huh? I plan to lose at least 10 in those 2 months. But with Curves.. I lose in bunches.. but the inches are going so I'm happy. :)

My trip to Hawaii is in April, but I WAS worried about the holidays.. not anymore :) I'm going to win a car.. he he

Thanks again everyone!!

I love Melaleuca stuff. I use them alot.
Except the dishwasher detergent....mold grows in my dishwasher when I use it. :( But the Laundry soap is prime!

The Curves in Hilo is in an industrial park off of Highway 11 just before the Keaau-Pahoa Rd. split thing. I'd say it's more like 5-6 miles from the port.

Actually, if you Google map Hilo, the spot where the second "11" is is where it's located at.

Wow I've never heard of such a thing.. You should contact the company and let them know. With the Melaleuca oil in it, it should have the opposite effect.

How do you like the Whitening toothpaste? That is my alltime favorite!!! Works better than anything else on the market! :)

Sally, good for you for sticking to your workout guns! Exercise makes us feel so much better in life, and the resulting body change is just a bonus.

As far as the food in Hawaii, I think it's easier to eat well there! So much fresh fish and fresh fruit....Or just a good plate lunch of roast pork and cabbage (just skip the mac salad). Or some fish taco's -- yum! Once you eat without all the mayo and cream sauces and butter, you can't go back. It doesn't feel like deprivation, but like living better. The tastebuds awaken to the pure flavors. The bod just feels soooo much better.

Anyway....back to the exercise.....

Thanks Kathy!! I highly agree. I can't eat much crap anymore or I get VERY sick! My body has always been that way. I can get used to the crap and eat it but when I get healthy and then try to eat something fatty.. forget it! I pay bigtime! And I'm NOT going to risk being sick while I"m on my vacation in paradise! he he Hubby thinks I'm nuts for doing this, but I'm not going to unlearn this great habit over 20 days because I didn't want to take 30 min. out of my day to go to Curves.. or because HE didn't. lol
