I've read the reviews and decided to read Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden. It was as good as I had anticipated. My daughter also read it and we used this reader group guide (http://www.readinggroupguides.com/guides/memoirs_of_a_geisha.asp) to discuss the book. Has anyone else read it? Did you enjoy it?

I read it. I liked it well enough. Golden is a good scene setter, and puts you in the time and place well. I think I prevented myself from enjoying it too much by keeping a skeptical eye... being Japanese by ancestry but not by upbringing, I was unfairly doubtful about the level of true cultural understanding Golden could have actually developed - at least to write from the perspective of insiders.
