In light of the What would be your dream Hawaiian concert? (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?p=130016#post130016) thread, what would be your dream headliner concert in Hawaii. Meaning national or international chart-topping musical artists and bands.
Hawaii is a challenging tour stop for the obvious geographical issue, plus a rather mixed demographic that's hard to please, genre-wise. Also, Honolulu's venue is limited to either small capacity Pipeline Cafe, medium capacity Waikiki Shell, large 8,000? capacity Blaisdell Arena or mega 50,000 capacity (though limited availability) Aloha Stadium.
Hawaii's youth today tends to like mostly hip hop, while the gen-x'ers are a mixed bag. Baby boomers seem more classic rock oriented here. At least this is my perception. Then again, I've never worked as a concert promoter, something Uncle Tom Moffatt is indeed an expert at.
Anyhow, here's my (starting) dream list of big name artists and bands I'd love to see here...
Pink Floyd (Gotta' love the surrealism on the silver screen.. and Gilmour!)
Sade (like sex on a microphone)
Joe Satriani (seen him back in the 90's @ Andrews Amphitheater... totally rocked!)
Van Halen (screw Eddie, I just love his guitar work. lol. They came before, but I missed it)
Usher (a true performer and fantastic singer)
Al Di Meola (hopefully performing tunes from the Land of the Midnight Sun album)
It would also be nice if (Hittman/Fuzzbubble) Tikiyaki Orchestra (Martin Denny's reincarnation!) could make a stop-over. :D
