Honestly, I don't have any instant favorite or liking similar to previous seasons. First season I was rooting for Joey McIntyre. Second season they were Jerry Rice, Drew Lachey, and Stacy Keibler (in that order). Third it was Emmit Smith all the way.

Not to bag on Apolo, but I was hoping for Michelle Qwan or Kristie Yamaguchi.

I agree wholeheartedly. The saxes sound really sweet when they're playing swing and bebop. But...I'd love to hear them cover Eric B. and Rakim--that's classical. Eff a Mozart or Beethoven. :D

This show is inspiring me to hit the weights again. Edyta's back is ridic.

But, I did vote once for Leeza - any 50 yr. old woman who can do the splits is worthy of our admiration!!!!

I forgot it was on last night! I'm so upset. I did youtube Laila's performance, it twas SMOKING! She is quite beautiful, but her parents aren't exactly bad looking. ;) Great genetics there.

Anyone have a favorite to win yet? Any early guesses on first, second and third places?

My early guess is that it will be between Joey and Laila in the end.

Laila's grrrrrr-eat!!! I also think they're looking for a female winner this year so, if that plays out, Laila has the best shot. I love Joey's dancing but I wouldn't underestimate Apolo. I think he's the biggest surprise so far. I'm not surprised by Joey because of his boy band experience. And that 18 year old, Julianne Hough, Apolo's dancing with is absolutely unbelievable for her age. The 2 of them together are a joy to watch. They put a wonderful, youthful slant on the competition.

I have a bit of recreational experience in ballroom dancing (swing and latin) and what the amateur celebrities are accomplishing in such a short amount of time is mind boggling to me. Well, with the exception of Master P a couple of seasons ago! :eek:

I wonder when we're going to see the DWTS season that pairs up the pros with American Idol finalists?! :D

This week, the dances are the Jive and the Tango, and they were assigned randomly.

Ok...Apolo and Julianne NAILED IT! I know I've made reference before but 18 year old Julianne is accomplished way beyond her years. What possesses a teenager to find a passion in ballroom dancing? She's definitely one of this season's highlights. Cheryl is now a super-celeb. I don't think anyone wants to see her voted off, regardless of her partner's ability...or lack thereof. Ian is doing a good job...but Cheryl is carrying him.

I dunno. Personally I think Ian started out stronger than he's finishing up. The bar's been raised higher and I think he's not keeping up with it. Maybe with some of the weaker dancers eliminated the weaknesses in the stronger dancers are becoming more evident. Just a guess on my part! ;)

Heather was better than Cliff and Billy Ray, too. Why Billy Ray is still there I'll never know. He doesn't have the likeability or the (lack of) dancing skills of last season's Jerry Springer! "Cliff", at least, has some likeability factor goin' for him. Ian's good enough to make the top 4 but unless someone really screws up big time, I can't see him beating out Laila, Apolo or Joey.

I really thought emotional voting would carry Heather a lot further...certainly past Billy Ray and John. Oh well...:rolleyes:

Laila's grrrrrr-eat!!! I also think they're looking for a female winner this year so, if that plays out, Laila has the best shot. I love Joey's dancing but I wouldn't underestimate Apolo. I think he's the biggest surprise so far.[...]

Did I hear correctly, during the previous week, an announcement that DWTS's next season will begin this fall? If so, I guess the producers are capitalizing on success!!! And, I'll hazard a guess that some "A list" stars might be knocking on the show's door.

I don't remember how long ago Emmit won. Now that I think about it I think Tom Bergeron said that we won't have to wait so long for the next DWTS, without mentioning when it might be. :confused:

As for The Bachelor...<blech>!!! Must admit I did watch the final coupla weeks to see how they featured Hawaii. Still, the premise of the show kinda turns my stomach. So far there's been no substantial relationship come out of that series. Give it up already! :D

Emmit Smith & Cheryl won last season's trophy. Although I voted for Laila each time, I wasn't disappointed in Apollo's win, but of the 2 guys left I have to say I liked Joey better. Apollo's dancing was the best "technically", but he didn't seem like he was having fun with it.

As for the Bachelor - they had a recap show on just before DWTS which I will admit to watching, just so I wouldn't miss the beginning of the show. On the recap, they did say that 2 of the past bachelors are still with the woman they picked & one of them will finally be getting married later this year. Also, if you count the Bachelorette series - Trista & Ryan have been married for 4 years now & are expecting their first child. So, there have been a few successful pairings. and this new couple are so cute - they are just ga-ga over each other. We'll just have to wait & see if it works out. I guess I always just hope for the romance to last - I'm just an old romantic myself. I don't watch the series anymore because most of the women are so shallow they embarass all of the rest of us but once in a while there seems to be one who comes across as genuine. But, she is usually the one who doesn't get chosen - probably because she is smart & her boobs aren't big enough :rolleyes:

I loved Joey's performances; the boy band showmanship came out each week! But he was technically inferior to Apolo, who trained like an athlete but who didn't have the same performance experience as Joey. Ballroom dancing technique is key followed closely by performance level. The charisma between Apolo and Julianne is what, I feel, pushed them to the top. I think Apolo looked like he was having fun but he couldn't match Joey's experience and comfort on stage.

My news source was wrong! :rolleyes: Must admit, I don't follow the outcome of the show but had recently read that there had been no successful pairings.
