I'm more of a contemporary Christian singer, so It's usually stuff from Lincoln Brewster or Hillsong. I know you non church goers are saying "Who?" :p
But hey, crank on any 80's metal song and you can't get me to shut up.

The ones I wrote are at the top of the list, but here are a few choice covers I like to do:
-Dirty Laundry, Country Western Style/Don Henley
-Take the Money and Run/Steve Miller
-Man You Don't Meet (Jack Stewart)/Pogues?
-Hills of Connemara/Irish Traditional
-Maddy Groves/Irish Traditional
-Bog Down in the Valley-O/Irish Traditional
-Fisherman's Blues/The Waterboys
-The Gambler/Kenny Rogers
-Long Haired Country Boy/Hank Willimas Jr
I often have this problem onstage. What songs do I know? Those are the ones I can remember right now, but there are dozens. I'm not a particularly good singer, but that no longer stops me.

Hey Chris, I love Hillsongs, Avalon, Jody McBrayer, too. But I can't play any of their songs on the piano. ;)

I didn't know you play piano :)
We gotta jam sometime !!
This weekend, I'm playing with one of the drummers from NHO. His name is Harry. Short guy (well....everyone is short to me, since I'm 6ft), glasses, GREAT drummer, SUPER nice guy. Still trying to get Tiffany Thurston to start singing rock so I can play in her band, but she seems to like that R & B flavor.

I envy those of you who can "Play" anything while singing! I can only sing. Well, I used to. My Kid 2, that kid can SING. Kid 1 is a champ on the piano, at 7! So maybe between them they can take their show to the great white way and break their share of hearts--after they check with MOM!

ahh I miss the good ol days of when i was in a band. I was (and still am) a nervous guy and would take a while to warm up to my local coffee house groupies lol. I used to sing/play (guitar) These songs were my faves back then:
Blues Traveler - Runaround
Sister Hazel - It's all for you
Green Day - Time of Your Life
Matchbox 20 - Push
Garth Brooks - Friends in Low Places
Bown Eyed Girl

I never could sing while playing an instrument, until I started learning Hawaiian songs on `ukulele, to accompany hula dancers; now, I can perform scores of them. But I still can't sing while playing bass --- yet.
Among the ones I sing most often:
Ipo Lei Momi
Pua Mana
`Ulupalakua
O Kamawaelualani
Wahine Ilikea
Ku`u Hoa
Ka Uluwehi O Ke Kai
Wai O Ke Aniani
Nani Wai`ale`ale
Kipu Kai

Hey Leo Lakio
Sounds like you might have the same problem that I have. It's near impossible for me to play guitar or bass and sing at the same time, unless I really really work on it.
Most people keep time by tapping their feet or keep time using a certain strum pattern. I found out that I actually keep time with my breathing, which makes it impossible for me to sing and play at the same time.
I'm wierd that way :D
But you know, it seems we have a vast variety of musicians on this board. We should think about an all out jam at the next HT gathering. :)

On guitar, which I seldom touch anymore given the fact that I am a husband, father and business owner, here are my personal favorites when I want to rip, and look like I know how to play.
China Grove - Doobies
Stray Cat Strut - Stray Cats
Jumpin Jack Flash - Rolling Stones
American Girl - Tom Petty
Dixieland Delight - Alabama
Friend in Low Places - Garth Brooks
Sandman - Metallica
Forever Night Shade Mary - Los Lobos
I need to play more.

Wow! This brings back memories. Used to play a 12 string with 3 other guys and the occasional female singer/flautist......way back. Did a lot of James Taylor, Carol King, America, Seals and Croft and other "soft" acoustic music. Titles to numerous to list. Used to practice in the stairwell in the Hale Aloha dorm tower. :D
Nowdays...after years of smoking, I can no longer hit the highs so I no longer play and sing. Our Mel is starting to ask about it and I'll probably start practicing just for her. :)
