This should be fun...
Name songs that are about food or drinks, or that at least include food or drink in the lyrics. Even if it's just one line.
My Kind of Girl - Frank Sinatra: "She's really sweet enough to eat. She looks like an angel looks, She cooks like an angel cooks..."
Warrant (metal hair band) - Cherry Pie: "She's my cherry pie. Cool drink of water. Such a sweet surprise. Tastes so good. Make a grown man cry. Sweet Cherry Pie!
UB40 - Red Red Wine: Red, red wine. Go to my head. Make me forget that I, still need her so.
UB40 - Bring Me You Cup (one of my favorite songs by them): "I’ve got the bottle, bring me your cup. Pop the cork, and try a sup. And when you’re empty, I’ll fill you up. We’ll drink it down till the sun comes up.
John Cruz - Island Style: "Mama's in the kitchen cooking dinner real nice, Beef stew on the stove, lomi salmon with the ice. We eat & drink and we sing all day. Kanikapila in the old Hawaiian way.
Sean Na'auau - Fish & Poi:"I like my fish and poi. I'm a big boy. Lomi salmon, pipikaula, extra large lilikoi, Squid or chicken lu'au. Don't forget the laulau. Beef or tripe stew, just to name a few. Oh yeah!"

You can't leave out "Eating", Rap Reiplinger's parody of "Feelings". I can't remember all of it but the chorus still rings in my head:
Eating
I get off on eating
[...]
Like aku
I like poke aku
Poke ahu's ono
With da limu on top
EEEEAAATIIINNNGGG
I'm forever EEEEAAATIIINNNGGG
It really blows my mind
When there's nothing to grind
And squid luau
Where's my squid luau?
Squid luau's a winner
I could eat three pounds for dinner
[...]

You can't leave out "Eating", Rap Reiplinger's parody of "Feelings"...Ah yes. But of course, where there's food, there's eating!
I never heard that song by Rap before. Is it on the Poi Dog album?
Here's a few more...
The Doors - Back Door Man: "You men eat your dinner. Eat your pork and beans. I eat more chicken than any man ever seen, yeah, yeah..."
Braddah Waltah - Sweet Lady of Waihole: "Sweet lady of waihole. She’s sittin by the highway. Selling her papaya, and her green and ripe banana"

Margaritaville - Jimmy Buffet
"Nibblin' on sponge cake,
watchin' the sun bake;
All of those tourists covered with oil.
Strummin' my six string on my front porch swing.
Smell those shrimp
They're beginnin' to boil.
Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt."
Another one...
The Hukilau song

A huki huki huki huki hukilau

LikaNui, I forgot about that one. Does he mention the expensive prices of the food at CBP in the lyrics? lol
A few more rock songs...
Ice Cream Man - Van Halen
I got good lemonade, ah, dixie cups
All flavors and push ups too
Im your ice cream man, baby, stop me when Im passin by
See now all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Pour Some Sugar on Me - Def Leppard
Pour some sugar on me
C'mon fire me up
Pour your sugar on me
Oh, I can't get enough
I'm hot, sticky sweet
From my head to my feet yeah
For obvious reasons, rock lyrics involving food are usually sexually driven. :D

That's Amore - Dean Martin
When the moon hits your eye
Like a big-a pizza pie

"Fish heads, fish heads, rolly polly fish heads, fish heads, fish heads, eat them up yum...."
I'm not familiar with that version, Mel - I'll have to check it out. I know the one from Barnes & Barnes (which was the creation of Billy Mumy, the kid from "Lost In Space," who has had a successful career as a songwriter.)

Leo Lakio is right, "Fish Heads" is by Barnes & Barnes. I think Mel confused that song with the Ogden Edsel classic, "Dead Puppies".
Dead puppies, dead puppies
Dead puppies aren't much fun
My puppy died late last fall
He's still rotting in the hall
Dead puppies aren't much fun
I don't think that one counts as a song about food, though. :D

You know, I think you are correct. Barnes & Barnes did "Fish Heads" and Ogden Edsel are known for "Dead Puppies". Bill Mumy also had a regular part as Lennier in the TV series Babylon 5. (1994-98)

Shoot - and I thought Mel had just turned me on to a different take on "Fish Heads." Thanks for clarification, Mel & Glen.
There's a duo around here, The Canote Brothers, who wrote a song called "The Diet Polka," the chorus of which went ---
I'm doing the diet polka
Don't laugh, it's not a joke-a
I'm dreaming of Almond Roca
While I'm doing the diet polka

Maybe not ABOUT food, but "Sunset grill" by Don Henley. It's still next to Guitar Center in Hollywood, but with new owners, and more fancy.
It used to be a little hamburger stand with the 80 something yr old owner all hunched over flippin' burgers. Great Song, greasy burgers.

Popcorn (instrumental) - Hot Butter
There are several other versions, but this is the one that became a hit in 1972. Go to this link (http://www.popcorn-song.com/) and select versions to listen to a number of samples.
Mashed Potato - Dee Dee Sharp. Not exactly about the food, but a dance song named after food. Was a hit in 1962. Dee Dee Sharp had a couple more dance hits based on "Mashed Potato," all available on a wonderful boxed compilation set called Cameo-Parkway.
From the Elvis Presley movie Blue Hawaii there's "Ito Eats".
Ito is an eating boy
He never get enough from fish and poi
He eat everything he don't care what
He even eat the shell from the coconut
Eat Ito eat all the night and the day
Eat Ito eat all the night and the day
Rice is Nice - minor hit by The Lemon Pipers (1968); they're more well known for the hit record "Green Tamborine". The song is more about throwing rice rather than eating it.

Didn't Barry Manilow also sing The Candy Man?
Christina Aguilera has a fairly new song titled Candyman, but the lyrics to her song are more explicit than "happy feel good" like Sammy's song.

Food product commercials also have memorable songs.
From 1971-72.
"I'd Like To Teach the World to Sing" - originally a "feel-good" theme song for Coca Cola, this became a hit by two different artists in the same years... The Hillside Singers and The New Seekers.
And lifting an oldie out of the "Local TV Jingles from Yesteryear (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=5435)" thread, there is the always popular and old... Exchange Orange Ade jungle
the exchange
goes round and round
in your tum tum tum
makes your mind
think yum yum yum
that orange-ade called exchange
The list could go on with a lot of food product and eating place song jingles...
"You Deserve a Break Today at McDonalds" - I think Barry Manilow either wrote or sang on some of these before making it big in 1975 with "Mandy".

Whatever was going on in the strawberry patch I don't believe involved eating strawberries! Down here it would probably have involved a guava patch!
