I had *no idea* that these two songs which I've always felt were quite catchy, and I wanted to put onto my ipod for working out, are by an artist who I cannot stand. I am still deliberating if I should click "buy now" on iTunes, because I am freaked by the dudes that much.
Anyone else besides me wrestle with buying songs by guys one cannot stand?

I love a bunch of the songs on Christina Aguilera's Stripped album. I don't so much hate her; I'm just embarassed being a middle-aged mom with a CD sporting this picture (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B00006CXXU/ref=dp_image_0/102-2392395-7793766?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music). And having that CD in my car right next to this CD (http://www.amazon.com/Americas-Choir/dp/B0002CX1LQ/ref=sr_1_1/102-2392395-7793766?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1176082121&sr=1-1)is pretty incongruent, huh?

(is knocking on 40 = Middle Age™?)
I cannot even look at MM because of those freaky contacts of his. If ever I were to meet him on the street looking like he does, I might deck him out of fear. But I like a couple of his songs. Whattodowhattodo...

And "denial" isn't just a river in Egypt, luv. Stop knocking - come join in.
Ask a 15-year-old the same question, if you enjoy pain.

I bet you could knock his scrawny butt out too. I saw him out in a Restaurant once in Hollywood.
I think he needs to be paying Alice Cooper Royalties for stealing his whole trip.

I was never a big Nirvana fan, but I loved "All Apologies."
Didn't care much for Alice in Chains, but I loved "No Excuses." Embarassing confession: when I first heard it, I thought it was REM.
Speaking of REM, I never liked them either, but "Stand" is a pretty awesome song.

Whattodowhattodo... Okay, I get it. You're joking around! Pretty funny, but I've seen too many of your posts to think that you'd be shallow enough to judge a musician based merely on their appearance. Now, if the musician was a convicted child molester -- like, say, Kinky Chinky Mahoe -- then that's clearly grounds for a boycott!
Musicians are much more visible than your favorite painters or authors or other artists. All your books and paintings and ceramics, et al... do you know what every one of their creators looks like? Of course not. And does it matter what they look like? Again, of course not.
Who sewed your clothes? Was the seamstress attractive? Who grew the food in your kitchen? Do they have to be attractive for you to purchase their product?
Of course not.
My advice to you, Pua`i Mana`o, is to buy the CD and enjoy the product of the artist.
On the off-chance that you were serious in the first place, that is.

I confess my shallowness. Most people do not give me the {{{willlies}}} like MM, but he really does. Others might see it for the shock factor/marketing that it is, but for me MM spooks me out.
I liked those songs for years, but never knew the titles or who sang them, until today, which I found out from my nephew. He plugged his ipod into my stereo adapter in the car this a.m., and the song "Rock is Dead" comes on and I dig that song! He tells me its MM, and I accuse him of b.s.ing me.
I admit it; I had to talk myself down from the ledge in order to buy those songs, because the guy is Freddy Krueger to me.
There you have it. Wanna scare me? Wanna get hurt? Dress like MM, complete with those contacts and stare at me. I will go Buffy.

As my teenage daughters are in this demographic, I want you to consider the hell they put me through with that song "1985" (especially considering I graduated high school the following year).
I hear "old" (as in, 'Ma, you are old'), and it seems less mortal than "middle age".

As my teenage daughters are in this demographicI shoulda specified that your own offspring don't count, because they will (at that age) take most any opportunity presented to find the cruelest-response option - just because it will make them think they are being clever.
My kid is 26; she now counts herself lucky that her parents allowed her to live to that age, despite the behaviors of her adolescent days.
Of course, the same could be applied to my siblings and myself. But my mother is now at a point in her life where she's happy to have the chances to remind us of our evil pasts. Guilt is the gift that keeps on giving. :p
