i'm using the free versions of zone alarm and avast but still got bit by a bug so i started looking around.

I did a google search, and techies on a trusted forum said its okay.

As for the computer, I'd just lock it down with a limited user account (make sure you have a spare administrative account).

Oh, and I'd use AVG instead of Avast. ;)
