01. "It's A Small World After All" - Robert and Richard ShermanI wonder what are some local songs you folks can't stand or find annoying? It can be a jingle, a tune , old , classic, etc. if not add to the above list.:D
I'll start, I can't stand the Exchange orange base song . That tune is still stuck in my head. A recent song drives me crazy nowdays, Gwen Stefani's Sweet Escape. That "wheee oh, Wheee Oh" is too much.

Anything by Limp Bizcut, Staind, Insane Clown Posse, Linkin Park, hmmmm I know there are more, just thinking of what I have told some of my employees to turn off, lol.
As far as individual songs, there are a few that come to mind.
Strawberry wine, I'm not sure who sings it.
Butterfly, Luckytown(I think).
Just Bought A Caddilik, Rich Boy.
I will add as I remember...

Her name was Lola...she was a showgirl...
I honestly think the most annoying song that rakes my ears is: Tip toe thru the Tulips...with meeeeeeeeee!!! What's worse is the video by the singer Tiny Tim.
Then there's that Hawaiian song with the donkey sounds!!

I also really like "Muskrat Love"The original by Willis Alan Ramsey and the remake by America are nice - but the twittery sound-effects in the Captain & Tennille version sound like gerbils trying to escape from the backside of a famous actor.
I'd have to put Cazimeros' "One Small Favor" on the list of local ones that I dislike.

Butterfly, Luckytown(I think).Awe man... I love that song! The band's name is Crazytown. Of course, if it were replayed over and over (like on the radio!), like most songs, I'd probably end up annoyed.
Here's a few more "most annoying" to add to the list (including YouTube video links, just in case you need to be reminded how annoying these songs really are):
Mickey - Toni Basil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3l5-MLkaE0)
Yeah - Usher (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQRtQAsA238) (I love Usher, but that repetitious synthesizer riff in this song kills me!)
Welcome to the Jungle - Guns 'N Roses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysFhDfGwbys) (the lyrics, combined with the way it's sang and the musical composition gives me a headache). Ditto for "You Could Be Mine (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlzptZ9wieQ)".
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1Qdcdw22Sw) (The ultimate grunge crap)

JDub...as artists and songwriters ourselves, we should ALL be so lucky as to have an annoying song like Closing Time that garners that much airtime at pubs, and events around the world.
The Semisonic guy that wrote that song annoyed us all the way to the bank, then up to his big fat house on the hill.

Talk about 70's flashback...There's Monty Python's Shaving Cream and the Vagina Song. And who does that song about a new pairk of roller skates: I got a brand new pair of roller skates...you got a brand new key.
And Spiders and Snakes.

"Brand New Key" is the name of the song about "a brand new pair of roller skates." Was a #1 hit by Melanie in 1972.
"Spiders & Snakes" was a top 20 hit for Jim Stafford in 1974.
The versions of "Shaving Cream" I am familiar with are the ones by Benny Bell, which was a reissue of a 1930s era record in 1975, and a remake by Dr. DeMento of the Dr. DeMento Radio Show.
Not familiar with anything by Monty Python.

I'll probably win on the hate mail count for this one: "Friends" by Cecilio and Kapono.
I didn't care for Barry Manilow years ago. My idea of a personal hell twenty years ago would have consisted of being trapped in a subway toilet with Barry Manilow recordings piped in on the PA system.
But I kinda like the guy now. Double hip surgery and still dancing (okay, shuffling) on top of a grand piano.
And "Copacabana" always had me singing along in spite of myself.
"And then the punches flew...and chairs were smashed in two...and there was blood and a single gunshot but just who shot who?"

It's especially bad now that it's shown up in a couple of commercials.
One of those things come on, I'll dive across the room to get the remote so I can hit the mute button.
Didn't mind Spiders and Snakes so much, but when Short People came out, being somewhat altitude challenged, my life turned to hell.

imagine that you're at sunset on the beach, and the movie that's about to play is child-friendly, as most movies at sunset on the beach are. as usual, there's live local entertainment in the late afternoon until the sun goes down and they can show the movie.
imagine that you're a local born filipina, sitting on the beach, surrounded by lil kids playing in the sand, enjoying a local band's performance (tho you'd never heard of them before), the sun warming your skin, the wind lightly playing through your hair, the sand toasting grittily but pleasantly between your toes...then you hear a male voice "chant":
boto boto suk suk boto boto suk suk....
i have never been, in my life, ever offended by a song. but natural vibration's performance of "one on one" at a honolulu city and county sponsored event came REEEEEEE HEEEEEE HEEEEEEE LY close. i almost wrote a letter to the mayor over that one.
i'm sure most of you know what a boto is (besides an amazon river dolphin) but suksuk colloquially is to make the ooofy...or at least the oral version of it.
