Another one bites the dust. Too sad. Do you know if this was a voluntary closure or if they couldn't renegotiate an acceptable lease?

Sorry, Sue. That release was all I got.

I wonder if increased competition from Home Depot and the future Lowes played into the decision to close up shop ?

There was an announcement of their closure quite a few months ago, sometime last year. My wife just reminded me that I had mentioned it to her back then, so it's not a spur of the moment decision. :)

Didn't go there too often, but when I needed a hard to find tool, they usually had it. They were also the only ones who sold 10 oz. cowhide sides for belts and such as well as suede. :(

I'm definitely marking this Tuesday "Kilgo's day" for me.

Hopefully I can find the space in my car (not to mention my house) for all of the stuff I'll probably bring home.

I haven't been there in years.

Whenever a favorite local establishment closes, I try to make a last buy. When Arakawa's closed, after scouring row upon row of nearly empty merchandise racks, I finally bought a sharpening stone (slightly cracked). When Iida's closed, I bought a hanafuda set and a couple of chopsticks. When Grocery Outlet closed, I bought ... actually, I can't remember what I bought ... I ate it all.

As for Kilgo's, what could I buy? A 5-foot wok? Anyway, there must be something I could use.

I could see it coming. I was there a few days ago and the entrance where you could drive a vehicle into for lumber pick-up was closed. Had to go in through the side entrance.

I really liked going there to find odd things that you couldn't find elsewhere. Whether it was tools, rope, nylon webbing, or tools. The marine department was among my favorites. And while their stainless steel fasteners were oddly organized they usually had what I needed for the boat.

All things come to an end. Too bad this was one of them.
