Now that summer is starting, people who work outside during the daytime heat (or when its humid) will have to start to stay hydrated. But what's the best liquid to drink when you're out working? water? gatorade? tea?

Make it at home:
in a portable juice 1/2 gallon juice jug, add 1/2 ice, 1/2 water, and cut up a lemon and toss the whole lemon inside, peel and all. Slug on that buggah all day; its good for you, the lemon cleans the taste of the water, and is refreshing. Plus, it is practically free. Change it around; make it a lime, another time 1/2 grapefruit, an orange (stick to citrus; cleans the water and cleans the body).
When you are thirsty, don't go for calories--aim to refresh. When you are hungry, then you eat--aim to nourish. Get your body on a good clock; those habits will serve you through life.

Water. Plain and simple.
There are the little add on packs made by H20 to go that are great as well. no additional calories, carbs, or sodium, and they taste great. The Pomegranate and cranberry is my fave. Crystal light makes a similar product but they have extra calories. Both are great for people that don't like just plain 'ol water.
If you are already dehydrated, gatoraid is great for replacing electrolytes and sodium, but is high in carbs and sugars.
I love a good gin and tonic after a long day in of fishing or surfing. Nothing nicer then watching the sun set, feeling the sunburn, with a thirst quenching, refreshing G&T....hell, I think it is G&T time now, lol.

Yes, I've seen those in the store. Unfortunately, I want to minimize my cost by utilizing a jug instead of a bottle. Trying to fill a gallon jug with that will cost me.

Honolulu has some of the finest tap water in the world. I drink gallons of the stuff.
Much of the neighbor islands get their tap from surface runoff sources, which doesn't taste very good at all, so I appreciate the aquifer water we have here on Oahu.

The gatorade I drank last night hit the spot and had me going. Too bad we didn't have to work hard to get carts. It was a night I wished we had a radio to listen to.

I tried the McD iced coffee w/hazelnut flavoring today, 2x!. I liked it. It's not as strong as Starbucks or Honolulu Coffee Co., but for $1.99 you can't go wrong. I asked for a side cup of ice, seemed it wasn't as cold as I would've liked it. But they were very obliging. I would give it a thumbs up.

Where in the world did you get that from? I agree that Honolulu has some good tap water but after drinking that stuff for over 44 years then coming to the Big Island living off of catchment water, I can attest that filtered rainwater is much sweeter than Honolulu's chlorinated tap water as there are no mineral deposits in rainwater.
And regarding McDonald's Iced Coffee's. For a $1.99 and the convenience of drive thru, this is a godsend! Sometimes you don't want a heavy iced coffee such as Starbucks and you don't have the time to walk in for it. (The Kilauea Avenue Starbucks in Hilo however offers drive thru service though).
My favorite is the Vanilla iced coffee. Not too rich as I normally enjoy my coffee hot and black being lactose intolerant and a true coffee lover.
