Police: Teen shooting in 'Aiea not 'drive-by'
By Rod Ohira and Peter Boylan
Advertiser Staff WritersA teenage boy has been arrested after investigators learned that he may have accidentally shot his 16-year-old friend as they were playing with a revolver in the parking lot of 'Aiea Public Library, police said.

Police last night confirmed that the case, initially reported as a drive-by shooting Monday night, was in fact an accident.

"There was no drive-by, no black car. ... The kid made it all up when he called 911," said Honolulu Police Detective Gary Lahens, the lead investigator into the shooting, who pursued discrepancies in witness statements yesterday. "Two friends were playing with a gun, and it accidentally went off."http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070523/NEWS01/705230415

Happen to see this on Advertiser's Website and seeing "Shooting" & "Aiea Public Library" and had to click onto this.....
I went to and grad from Aiea High soooooo I used to hang out in this area.
Seeing the image posted where the teen got shot made me go WHOA....
RIght next to the library. Good thing it happened in the evenings when the library was pretty much closed up and NOT during the day. Its sad that the teen fled, making up a poor excuse of a story IMO just made a situation far more worse.

This was my favorite quote from the article....

"Edayan enjoys body-building and writing rap music, friends said yesterday."

Aiea drive-by incident fabricated, police say (http://starbulletin.com/2007/05/23/news/story02.html)
"He comes here almost every day after school and sometimes at night," said Kitty Saludares, owner of Cyber Chat Cafe in Aiea Town Square, an Internet cafe targeted at teenagers. "We opened this store hoping to get them off the roads and be safe." Police said two boys were playing with a gun when it accidentally discharged, injuring the victim about 10:40 p.m.

In the first place Why?

Teenagers out at night hanging around at a Internet Cafe, I can understand. We all were teenagers once. Different times. But to have a Gun in their possession? Where did they get it? Whom did they get it from?

Innocent Teenagers? Not by a long shot!

Ainokea!!! The PARENTS are Responsible!!

The Teenagers are underage and the responsibility of their parents. He could have been killed. Lies from the start...because they were scared. I would be too. A bullet in a Gun? What were they thinking?

Sad. Stupid. Idiots!

What the heck were they doing with a loaded gun out there?

And that's the kind of thing that happen when people play with guns.

Dumbass.
