After a rough year, my younger brother is finally graduating! I have a week to find a gift that isn't a balloon, stuffed animal, or a lei (I will give a lei however - its Hawaii).
Maybe something along the lines of say, a toilet seat? (that's my last minute idea, since I have a connection at a hardware store).
(and no, I don't think no walmart will like to have one of their carts missing, so I can't borrow one for the night).
Got any ideas?

Personal Finance for Dummies (http://www.amazon.com/Personal-Finance-Dummies-Eric-Tyson/dp/0470038322/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-5653071-7058504?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180339240&sr=8-1) is my #1 gift for graduations and weddings. It is worth its weight in gold.

Has he got specific plans for the future?

Has he got specific plans for the future?
I don't know.
Since he struggled with HS, I don't know how set he is on going to college.
And I want this to be a gag gift anyway - a sort of a memento if you will. We'll probably have a father's day/mother's day/mom's birthday/graduation combo party later this summer so that'll be fun! (and no, I'm not planning on getting him a car - there's no space for another car in the garage)

Oh yes, give him a crappy gift for his struggles, thats always humuous. Also a combined party is always fun. Nothing that says youre special like a memorial day/graduation/its thursday!/sale at macy/bday party!
Or is it just me?
If I had a lil bro, i'd get him something useful for his future like a PDA, books on career decision-making, or something fun like a PSP or DS.
Giving him a toilet seat just tells him 'hey, the rest of your life is crap, here you go'.

You didnt say how much you wanted to spend, so heres some ideas from the top of my head since the previous ones didnt fit. im kaka'ing your gag gift, as i think graduating is a big thing and deserves a well thought out gift. I actually liked Pau'i gift idea, its too at that age I wouldnt have actually cracked it open.
trip to europe. make it round trip if you like him. i think its $600 off season.
trip to neighbor islands if europe is out of budget.
hotel room in waikiki
a bicycle
some sort of tool, if hes mechanically inclined. also, if hes not going to college this might be useful. ive used my leatherman alot.
an ipod or ipod accessory.
a watch (fossil? casio? seiko?)

My boy just graduated from KSBE Keaau and I helped him establish his own checking account with American Savings Bank so he can have his own Visa Debit card. I had to put in $100 to start his account going but he needed this so he can access his thousands of dollars he got for his graduation while he's off to the Marines next week.

How about you getting an apartment and inviting him to be your room-mate? That way he gets to see what the benefits of a college eduaction can bring.

I was gonna say, if he's going off to college and be living in a dorm, get a laundry basket and fill it with some items... towel, laundry soap, shampoo, deodorant, diapers (or other gag items lol)...
