Police arrested a 34-year-old Waikiki man who allegedly beat his child over a phone bill.
At about 7 p.m. Wednesday the suspect got upset because of overage charges on his child's cell-phone bill and then assaulted the child, police said.
The juvenile suffered minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene. Police would not release the child's age or gender.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of second- degree assault.
All I know, is that its not from mobi.

There is a difference between spanking and hitting. Parents should never hit their children in anger. But there is a bigger story here. If the kid wants a cell phone, why don't the parent let him pay for it himself.
Scroll down a little further to an article about a 17 year old boy who will grow up and become a SOB just like the Waikiki perp. Ironic.

Baldwin?...
I agree that there is a line between discipline, and abuse...parents need to have boundary's as well as the child that rings up a bill worthy of ticking of a parent folk that bad.

hmmmmmm
I guess NO CELL PHONE FOR YOOOOOOOOOOU should have taken place
But on a serious note the father should have told the child ONLY to make calls during CERTAIN hours and limit the usage during high peak hours?
sounds he signed up for crappy plan me thinks

Well, if TV teaches us anything; he should have said "Tell your BFF Jill that I'm taking your phone". Then vocalized abbreviated text talk would ensue, not assault :p

Bwaha! This is one of my favorite commercials. The mom's end line when she mumbles thru the letters is too funny. Great reaction from her. But, alas, that's another thread!
Back on topic...I'd love to know how old the child is. That would help to figure out an appropriate punishment. Abuse to the child or the phone is not the answer. That's just an immature, knee-jerk reaction to anger.

MIKE!.......................knock it off. <ROFLMAO>
Our 7 yr. old is already asking for a cel. :p
We got her one when we signed up for a Hawaiian Telcom bundle, but didn't tell her. :D We have it programmed only to send or receive calls from people on her call list and 911. Yeah, mom and dad, gramma grampa, uncle and older brother. No bff's. :D

Okay daddy,
(WTF) Not the kids fault to begin with. That`s what happens when we let things get out of hand. Let`s face it, kids now days gotta have what other kids have. It`s just laying down the rules, not hitting them....duh!!!!
