Notice how close together the houses are.
Notice how tall the houses are.
Notice how narrow the streets are.

Close together. Taller. Just exactly the opposite of what we do in Hawaii.

And I must say that all of those doorways were really beautiful. Talk about old world charm. We just don't build them like we used to.

Hmmm...too bad those doors wouldn't pass the inspection here in Hawaii County on a new build.

A guy walks into a Home Depot telling me his newly installed bathtub won't pass final inspection so he has to replace it. He's looking for a bathtub that will fit thru his 34-inch bathroom entryway as the walls are already up. I ask him how he was planning on getting his original tub out?

He shakes his head and asks me the price for a new 42-inch deep tub instead. I give him a quote then send him to our Building and material department for prices on replacing his walls he has to tear down to get the old and new tub in and out.:(

I told him he should have had some manapua when the inspector came around;)

Problem was that the old tub was a new tub and cutting it in half would have meant destroying it. You can't return merchandise that has been destroyed...but then again we have taken back lawnmowers from customers that seems to have an entire lawn mowed before the engine seized due to the owner not putting in that little container of oil in it. Geez we (Home Depot) really need to rethink our return policies.:(
