So I'm checking out the web and I find a download for Mac's Safari browser for Windows!
I'm posting this thread via Safari right now. The pages seem to load much faster than IE and it even imported all of my favorites.

I hope it's the patched version. The original had flaws that could allow the bad guys to compromise your machine.

I'm running a Windows platform already...which as we all know is compromisable anyway.
The version is 3.0.1 and here is the link: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4184-safari-beta-for-windows.html

No, no, no.... some puni compromised the original version of Safari for Windows, so 2 days later, Apple issued an update.
Get your download from the "mother ship":
http://www.apple.com/safari
If you don't have the update yet, grab it. Supposed to be more stable, too.

So is 3.0.1 the original or the updated patched version?

I downloaded and tried it yesterday afternoon. I had problems importing the bookmarks from Firefox, but finally managed to do so. I think it was more of a problem with Firefox than Safari. It does seem faster than IE or Firefox. Text seems a lot bolder -- I think I kind of like that.

3.0.1 is the patched update. Installed on my Win XP laptop with no problems at all.

I tried Safari twice, utterly horrible. I couldn't get the tabs to work, plus it froze up on me a couple times, with my CPU spiking. Bear in mind I have a 2.8Ghz Celeron processor and 1GB RAM running XP Home.

Ahhh Celeron...that's why. The cache on a celeron is much smaller than on a P4. Try upgrading your processor to something as little as a P4 running 2.5Ghz with twice the cache memory. They're pretty cheap nowdays under $70

I checked, my Celeron only has 256K L2 cache. That being said, I've only had the CPU spike when using Safari, not Opera, Firefox, Maxathon or
IE. So I guess I'll stick with the latter for the time being.

Maybe the download didn't load successfully. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.
BTW what the hell is going on with the King Kamehameha Hotel? That place is so run down it's almost decrepid! I stayed there Friday evening and was appalled at the condition of the place. Next time it's back to the Kona Bali Hai resort on Alii Drive at just $12 more for the Kamaaina rate.

Yeah its strange , I downloaded and installed it twice same symptoms. Not a big deal, I like my Opera, Firefox and IE.
As for the Hotel King Kamehameha, HT&T (Owners of the Pagoda Hotel etc) have let the hotel slide really badly. The good news HT&T is in the process
of selling the hotel to mainland investors.

I currently use IE 7.0 - what happens to it if I decide to try out Safari? I'd really like to try it cause my bro, the MAC person in the family, loves it.
sorry to hear about the hotel going downhill - I used to love the pool bar!

Installing Safari shouldn't cause any problems for any other web browsers you use on your computer.

"King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel is in the process of being sold to a partnership made up of a Santa Barbara, Calif.-based hotelier and local investors.
Present owner HTH Corporation announced that the sale of the 460-room hotel in Kailua-Kona to the group led by InvestWest Financial/Pacifica Hotel Co. would be closed by June. No purchase price was announced.
"We are tremendously excited to be acquiring this unique and culturally rich property," said Mike Barnard, president of Pacifica Hotel Co.
In announcing the acquisition of the hotel, the company also announced that all collective bargaining contracts will be honored. "This will ensure a seamless transition," said Lori Keller, vice-president of marketing for Pacifica Hotel Co."
