Hi All,
I am really in desparate need of help here!!.
I have no idea how on earth to download my own DVD videos to my Ipod :( .
I was reccomended to purchase this http://www.bvrp.com/eng/products/dvd2pod/Default.asp or something similar to this weblink/website, & it doesn't seem to work!!. :(
it is called : DVD2POD or DVD to Ipod (or something like that).
Please anyone give me some input on what to do.
I have an HP pavilion using windows XP.
The music part for my Ipod seems to work perfectly,
but the videos doesn't :(
If anyone has any experties on this subject, I would gladly appreciate it on sheading some light my way.
P.S. or is that I am not technically allowed to make copies to place to my Ipod at all????
Is it even possible to do???
Hope to hear from any one soon.
P.S.S. I will try to check in (when I can), but I will be busy cleaning up our apartment.
Aloha.

Use HandBrake (http://lifehacker.com/software/dvd/download-of-the-day-handbrake-all-platforms-254445.php).
Thanks sooo much Glen :) ,
question(s) for you....
Is that safe & bug FREE, & it wont crash my computer??? or wont cause me any problems down the road???
I am always suspicious of downloading things down (from the the internet), because I don't have my computer friend to help me fix it for FREE any more, & I don't have that kind of money to just fix my computer, unless it is necessary.
Have you used that yourself recently or in the past?.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Aloha. :)

I haven't used handbrake but I've heard of it and it looks like a nifty little thing. You do need a decent machine to do this sort of converting and even then it takes time. It's a bit of a pain really. I've only done one (unprotected) cartoon and went bah humbug on the whole thing. Did I buy a 40" tv to watch movies on a 2" screen? :) Nero Recode isn't free but it's stable and very user friendly. No one can guarantee you that something won't go wrong with any piece of software. I'd say that unless you're willing to invest time or money not to bother with it. The video ipod was really conceived to sell you movies that you cannot play anywhere else :)

I had to download dvd43 (http://www.dvd43.com/) to get handbrake to work running win 2k. Pretty simple really. dvd43 runs in the background all the time. If there's no dvd in the drive, it'll show a straight smiley in your task bar. Once a DVD is put in, the face turns smiley green to tell you you're ready to copy the dvd. Just start Handbrake and select the location of the video ts folder of your dvd, pick a destination file location pick the ipod preset (1.33 for me) of your choice and hit encode. Takes a while... You've kinda got to take the Ron Popeil approach to it. Just Set it and forget it! Spaceballs took an hr and a half give or take.

Nero Recode isn't free but
You might check the software that comes with your DVD burner. I think I got something like Recode with my Memorix DVD burner.

OMG  !!.
Thanks soo much for those helpful hints & information gang!!. :)
Especially you, Kungpao with your "DVD43" information.
I guess it's true about what people say about being "patient enough", & I will get my answers, may not be today, or tomorrow, but eventually Someone will answer them :) .
Thanks gang.
Any more helpful hints & tips (to add) ???,
Please post.
Thank you & Aloha.
HUGS. =)

I just saw this advertised. : http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ipodcopy/?gclid=CPCr_fPM84wCFQIPYwodexiMhw
Is that just as good as the DVD43, or is it better than the DVD43?
Which would you reccomend if I purchased it (either of the 3) on line (or in the store)?? or should I get both (or all 3) ?
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ipodcopy/purchase_pc.html
"Purchase the download version of iPodCopy" ~OR~ "Purchase the CD version of iPodCopy" or Both?? so that I can actually have my vidoes on my Ipods for once?.
Hope to hear from anyone soon.
Hugs & Aloha. :)

Looks like iPod Copy isn't DVD ripping software, but software that lets you copy content you already have on your iPod to your computer. Just like the previous posters, I highly recommend Handbrake (http://handbrake.m0k.org/). It's free and easy to use. :)

dvd43 and handbrake are both free software. I DL'ed handbrake and couldn't figure it out so I checked out the documentation of it and found a walkthrough that someone made. That's how I found out about the dvd43.
