Neighbor Island Road Runner Issues ?

I'm curious if anyone else is having speed issues with their Road Runner service,specifically on the Big Island.I've heard that Oceanic has had
some inter island bandwidth issues. Also they had to do a fiber upgrade to accommodate more HDTV channels (which get fed through the same
bandwidth).

Well it appears there is some inter island bandwidth issue which is affecting the Big Island ? I have read reports of two folks in Hilo with speed issues. One
of them got confirmation there is indeed a problem. But it seems its more wide spread than just Hilo, as I've read reports of two people in Kona suffering the same problem.

As far as I understand, Oceanic had to do fiber upgrades to the inter island transport to add more HDTV channels. See Road Runner, HDTV,digital cable
feed and possibility digital phone share the same bandwidth inter island.

Time Warner Telcom provides the inter island fiber transport for Oceanic statewide. There is only them, Pacific LightNet,Hawaiian Telcom, and eventually Sandwich Isles
that provide inter island fiber transport.SCCL has a fiber-optic line between Kawaihae and Oahu also.

I had to call Oceanic on Friday about something else - while waiting for a real person to come on, there was a recorded message about rr issues in different places, including parts of the BI and Oahu. They are trying to fix it.....
