For the last few months the Ward theater has being showing a commerical for Moviefone.com where a guy in a bus has a shoebox and he his crying because his pet gerbil had died. The commerical suggested he should use the web site to look for a subversive comedy, one that does not involve gerbils or vacumn cleaners to cheer him up.

I was kind of wondering which movie would fit in as a subversive comedy and after watching Ocean's Thirteen (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0496806/) at Dole tonight I think this movie would quailify as one.

The movie is kind of a mild comedy, it's mostly a kind of long magic act with you actually seeing how the magicans do it. Maybe not up front at first but sooner or later the magicans reveals the tricks.

I liked "Ocean's 13." I almost didn't see it after the travesty that was "Ocean's 12" (see our discussion of worst sequels (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=7986)). But while "Ocean's 13" was no "Ocean's 11," it was a fun ride. It returned to a broader focus on the great ensemble cast, it had Al Pacino chewing up every scene he was in, and it had a relatively straightforward plot with clever twists.

Did you see the latest Pirates? I'm trying to decide on these two for tonight. Which would you recommend
