Scrivener starts some fun questionnaires on this board, so in honor of that, here's a new spin.
The original questions are limited to 5, but this thread is open for anyone to add new ones!
What would you do with 10 million dollars?
What would you do if you were president of this country?
What would you do if you could travel back or forward in time?
What would you do if you could change anything about your body?
What would you do with 5 acres of Waikiki beach front property?
Man, thinking of those questions was kinda' tough. :o

Shoots, I just realized this thread should have been placed in the Pā‘ani section. Admin, if possible, please move this thread there. Mahalo!

What would you do with 10 million dollars? Invest half, donate the rest
What would you do if you were president of this country? Get laid by an intern because it's safer than waging war against a muslim country.
What would you do if you could travel back or forward in time? Nothing because I'd lose $10 million dollars.
What would you do if you could change anything about your body? Lose the belly
What would you do with 5 acres of Waikiki beach front property? Nothing because it's sinking.
Man, thinking of those questions was kinda' tough. :o

1. Donate 2/3 of what was not taken from me in the form of taxes.:)
2. Reform the healthcare system in this country; bring back more manufacturing jobs to this country, make it even harder for foreign corporations to own American companies, limit excessive profits of large corporations, give more power back to the people to make laws in this country, make the government operate on a pay-as-you-go basis (including funding for any wars) and start with a zero balance national budget every year to get us out of the huge financial deficit we are in. We should at least be exporting as much as we are importing, but we're not right now.
3. Go to the future because there's still a chance that things could get better if we learn lessons from how we're screwing things up today, and because you can't change what's already happened in the past.
4. Revert back to the body I had when I was about 18 years old.
5. Turn it into a land trust so it could never be paved over (plant more trees and indigenous Hawaiian plants) and bring more sand in for Waikiki Beach so it doesn't disappear:eek: .

Now that's something I'd love to do. But then I was a 5'6" 127 lb geek with a size 27 waist. Nah maybe age 21 for me at 5'7" 140lbs and a size 32 waist. The military helped me bulk up a bit. Married life turned that into a "before" candidate for the diet industry:D

With $10 million, I would buy a new house for a third, sock away a third, and donate a third.
If I were president, I would seek ways to provide equal health-care and educational opportunities for our citizens; I would seek diplomatic ways of keeping our troops out of others' wars; I would seek to increase transparency in all levels of how our government runs; and I would seek ways to increase equality among the sexes, starting with appealing to the intellect of girls to help them achieve professional greatness in science, math, business and philanthropy.
If I could, I would travel back in time to do things differently as a teen, such as getting myself to college right away; if I could travel into the future, I'd go to see how my girls turned out.
If I could change my body, I'd have an increased metabolism and my hair would always be perfect.
If I had five acres of beach-front property in Waikiki, I'd turn it into a sanctuary.

1. Make a movie.
2. Quit.
3. Go back in time, buy a bunch of stuff that will be worth a ton of money now, come back to the present and sell it on eBay. No, actually I'd go back to 2001 and sell it on eBay.
4. I'd change everything, and end up looking like young Audrey Hepburn.
5. Sell it, because there's no way I'm paying taxes on that, even with the 10 million.

What would you do if you could change anything about your body?
I'd add 3 inches to my height. I'm 5 ft. 9 inches tall, which is an average male height. My dad's brothers were/are all 6-footers, except dad, who was the same height as me.

Take some of today's common technology and seriously warp a 1960's NASA scientist's mind. :D
Wouldn't need more then a cheap solar powered calculator. Show them a iPod Nano - more memory then their biggest mainframe. And what do we use it for? Music!

Yup. Lots of things like that. Of course if you took back a laptop, their brains would explode.

1. Quit working. Around the world cruise. Buy homes for self and family. Start a non-profit reforesting Hawaii with Sandalwood and Koa.
2. Interns of course.
3. Go forwards, then come back and buy stock. Go backwards and buy land.
4. Take hair from my body and relocate it to my head.
5. Build the world's tallest building or maybe just plant taro.

If I could go back in time, then I'd pull myself out of the quiet mode, and make some decent high school friends and make better decisions in life.

I'd lose all of this fat and have more stamina and strength.
What would you do with 5 acres of Waikiki beach front property?

Wow - really tough, thought provoking questions. Very cool.
1. Keep 1 million to pay off bills, let my mom travel where ever she wanted and secure retirement. Then buy up as many homes/apts as I could and rent them out for $500/month. Instead of trying to build affordable housing - make existing housing affordable.
2. Hire really good people to run things cause all my ideas tend to run toward utopia - which everyone keeps telling me is not realistic.
3. I'd get my Nobel prize :p
4. I wouldn't. I'm comfortable as is.
5. Trade it in for 5 acres of beachfront property in Maui. Even with bulldozing existing structures and returning it to nature, the rest of Waikiki is too built up.

1) I suspect that after paying the taxes on it I should have enough to do things like buy a place to live, keep some of it in savings, pay off the bills (not that I am in $1 million in debt or something like that), oh yeah travel to that place in Texas (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showpost.php?p=156071&postcount=3) and stay a spell (could afford to spend over 3 months there I guess), could travel to other parts of the country as well too. There are also other minor things one could do with money and still not run out of money or ideas to do with.
2) I'll pass on this.
3) I'll pass on this.
4) Lose weight.
5) Trade it or sell it (maybe that's how I got the $10 million in the first place) for land in Central Oahu, on old pineapple field (or cane field) and make an aeronautical park for those who want to fly model planes, rockets and kites in one place. Big enough so that one doesn't bother the other.

:D
1) I'd buy a powerful boat big enough to house 15 people, complete w/fishing and surfing gear. I'd put some of the money in an all-bases-covered financial portfolio, enough to sustain me for the rest of my life on said boat.
I'd donate the rest to a bunch of non-profits taking care of native habitats here and in other pacific island groups.
2 - 5) Screw the rest, I'd be in bliss in the oceans and on the islets around the world :D
