Christa's 'Forgot the Rice' (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=13373) thread prompts this thread. Due to hectic lifestyles many of us, from time to time, need to delegate various chores and responsibilities to someone outside the home. I'm hoping this thread will compile a list of services that HT members feel other members should be aware of. I'll start off with Christa's recommendation then add mine:

...there is a guy that will deliver 60 cups of cooked rice for $15.

Think it's a damn useful service so wanted to make sure everyone knew about it. Probably best for small biz food/catering establishments because 60 cups is a LOT.... but I know I've gone to more than one event where we all forgot the rice

So ya... it's 848-7423 [848-RICE]. Good to know!

Akamai Shopping and Delivery Service
672-7347
I've used their services since this very small business opened around 1999 and thru it's one change of ownership. They'll go to Costco, Longs, Safeway and the other major grocery stores. It's great for shut-ins or people like myself with schedules that can sometimes make shopping impossible. I don't currently have their flyer in front of me but, iirc, it's cost +20% + a small gas charge now that the gas prices are so high. I highly recommend them.

Room Service in Paradise (http://www.rsiponline.com/)
941-3463
I think many of you on Oahu are familiar with this service. They publish a free booklet of participating restaurants AND each restaurant's menu. I regularly use them when I have clients in house for the day. Love 'em! You can request a booklet thru the 'contact' link at their web site.

A-OK Business Services (http://aokhonoluluhi.com/)
350 Ward Ave. #106 (Kakaako, across Ward from Sports Authority)
591-2983
This business has been my mailing address for close to 10 years; something I need 'cuz of my Makaha/town/never-know-where-I'll-be situation! There's someone there to accept and sign for packages and my mail isn't sitting in an area where nere-do-wells can hope to steal my identity! It's more than just a mail drop, tho'. Sharon, who has 28 grandchildren...so far and plays '50s & '60s music!...offers other services such as packing and mailing. There's nothing fancy about this place. It's just a small business owner offering excellent customer service out of a small office.

I have no affiliation with any of these businesses other than being a happy customer!

I'm hoping to learn of a reputable house cleaning service to use for my daughter's small condo after visits from friends and family. The Maids are just too costly and I just ain't gonna do it myself!

I would have loved a buying service that when given multiple school supply lists, they would gather it all for you.

It's so sad that the DOE in all of it's centralized glory cannot centralize a common school supply list for all of it's public schools. The DOE can do us all a favor by simply getting all the needed school supplies a child needs and offer the parents a simple and easy bill to pay for those supplies that would be boxed and delivered to the kid's school with their name and classroom number on it on the first day of school.

But one of the greatest conveniences is the packaged Thanksgiving dinners offered by the supermarkets and hotels.
