View Full Version : Apology Thread Registry

For future reference, I Craig Watanabe make this apology for any future reference to anyone whose toes I stepped on.
The next time I piss off somebody, reference this post to dispense a heartfelt, "I'm Sorry" to your ego.
I figure most of us here on HT need to apologize every once in a while to another HT'er so this way by creating a registry we can just tell the defendant to refer to the HT Apology Thread Registry.:D
You can even link your post to this URL: http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?p=158871#post158871

You mean if I post a formal appology here now, I can post as an ssa ad nauseum forever and ever?!!! Kinda like putting prayers in the bank to avoid hell or purgatory? Kinda like since I said I was sorry I can oppo on whomever I want?
If you refer someone you think needs to say they are sorry to this particular thread, do you also have to apologize when you do so?
Do I have to appologize when I write with my tongue in cheek? Just having fun, Craig! Sorry!

I've been the ashhole for my entire life. Perhaps it's the lack of a clutch between my brain and my mouth. But at least everybody has a benchmark to judge who the good folks are. There are basically two kinds of folks in the world....the one's who hate me, and the one's who love me(or have not met me yet;) ). There is very little gray area in the middle.
If you have ever been hurt by words, turn down your sensitivities. I make no apologies for the last statement.

The mainland could care less about what's happening here. Early this morning around 5am the national news was all a buzz about tropical depressions in the Gulf of Mexico and the heat wave somewhere in the US but absolutely no mention about their long forgotten 50th state and it's weather and geological problems.
And my wife phones in from Oahu telling me the TV news had a blurb about the earthquake on the Big Island then...Meanwhile back here on Oahu...and for the rest of the morning it was all about Oahu.
I wish there was one TV station that looked at Hawaii as the entire state including all islands instead of just Honolulu and for that I apologize for those stations that continue to keep a "Honolulu-centric" focus only...meanwhile on the neighbor islands...yeah we're just the Smiths from across the street.

Hey Tim...um...refer to Post #1:D
Weather wise we're under a foot of snow with moderate hail...no? Okay we're under heavy overcast skies and there's still no wind or rain. Just really dark and ominous skies. Good thing though is we got satellite reception which is frickin unusual.

The mainland could care less about what's happening here.Hey, now.
And I see PLENTY of postings at present, from people there in Hawai`i on all kinds of topics other than the hurricane. Personally, I was annoyed at the Weather Channel last night, as they mentioned Flossie as their top story in the billboard, but didn't cover it until ten after the hour. (Of course, one could also point out that the 100-plus-degrees-for-several-days heatwave in the Southeast does affect a few hundred thousand more people than Flossie, thus justifying its place higher up in the broadcast.)
And, if you please, the correct phrase is "couldn't care less." Think about it ... "could care less" means that you have room to find even less interest in a topic. Like Barbie recalls. Or vanity plates. Or Mainland bashing. (But that's a peeve - not an apology.)
Now, back to our regularly-scheduled hatch battening. And let's keep hoping that all the precautions end up being unnecessary, due to a nice southward turn, combined with a lessening of intensity. Then you can all consider it good practice, and no one gets hurt.

Lika Nui, I've gotta know this... Where does this hostility towards Muilang stem from? You're upset that there are topics here on HT that stray from "pressing" Hawai'i issues, but as far as I can tell this whole forum has departed from what it was (in 2004-05). It has become more like Hawai'i Threads Lite (and I'm curious if that is why many of the ealier prolific posters have cut back).

Thought: shouldn't an apologetic post be placed where the apologizing poster originally posted a post for which the apology was intended? So we could follow the actions and reactions that brought the poster to the conclusion that an apology was necessary?
Most apropos, I would think. Then someone else could post a poll allowing others to vote as to whether or not they felt an apology was called for.

If your opponent's sarcasm is not an attempt to counter your argument, but merely an attempt to insult you (or amuse the bystanders), then it is not part of an ad hominem argument.
Thanks for the link. Seems to be spot on with what I always believed they were. And yes, sometimes I have used personal attacks to attempt to undermine and counter an argument (only in arenas when the outcome doesn't truly matter). That was a very interesting read though.

Hehe, good to know someone else has made the same observation (with regards to point one). :)
And my response to that is, "caveat emptor" ALWAYS. Everyone has a brain, and everyone should be able to use their ability to think critically to decide for themselves if anything that is written is the truth. Never take anything anyone (including me) as the gospel truth. Always check the facts out for yourself, if they mean something to you. Yes, be skeptical. I am. Always.;)

Never take anything anyone (including me) as the gospel truth. Always check the facts out for yourself, if they mean something to you. Yes, be skeptical. In another sense, if we feel that someone's posts are worthless and should be discounted by all - what value is there in telling everyone so, repeatedly?
As I am capable of judging the value (to me) of someone's posts, I certainly don't need someone else telling me whether or not I should trust what they say. As Miulang noted, I can use my own brain, thankyouverymuch.
(And yes - I have participated in poster-bashing before. It took me a while to see how ugly that looks to those not playing that game.)

I think you thought I was addressing Lika Nui's reference to you. I was merely saying it is good to see someone else who has noticed that Hawai'i Threads is straying from what it had been in 2004-05. It has become a more general forum (not due to the contributions of any one person).
Leo, referring to the first sentence of your last post, did you tack on "though" because it was a superfluous addition at the end of my sentence? Or were you just agreeing? I think you said you were an editor in one of your previous posts which is why I raise the question?

I think Pomai owes me an apology for starting the most boring threads known to man; I find it truly offensive. :p

I think Diane Ako owes me an apology too... for the type of clothes she wears when she anchors the weekend news for KHNL. I got slapped upside the head a couple of weeks back because of her.

I apologize for bumping this thread.

Oh --- and for p!$$ing anyone off here. I don't know what it is about discussion boards that can bring out my worst attitude - it's not "anonymity," as I'm easy to identify.
But I'm not such a snot IRL, I don't think...

I'ld like to take this opportunity, to apologize for everything I did do, and for everything I didn't do. Personally, I tkink it was all Dick's fault, wait a sec, that was back in college, never mind.

Let me register a general, all purpose apology to All HTers. Mea culpa. (I'll save the maxima culpa for another time.) Can I use this if I am not Catholic? :p
And as for the new avatar I posted, I just noticed it is all NOSE. (Guess it's better than being all something else.) :D

Wasn't making an apology for offensive statements a radio talk show gimmick commercial? That would spark my curiosity and tune in to hear anymore shocking opinions.
