According to this item (http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2007/Aug/17/br/br2784619503.html), Aerosmith is coming in September:

"Aerosmith, known as the "bad boys of rock" from Boston with roots in the 1970s, will bring their blues and rock chops to the Maui County Fair, at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Maui War Memorial Stadium.
"The group features Steven Tyler on lead vocals, keyboards, piano, harmonica, percussion; Joe Perry, on lead and rhythm guitars and background vocals; Brad Whitford, on rhythm and lead guitars; Tom Hamilton, on bass, rhythm guitar and background vocals; and Joey Kramer, on drums, percussion and background vocals. All but Whitford are founding members of Aerosmith, which has been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
"Tickets are $125 and $85 for reserved seats, $65 for general admission."
(...)
"The group will be on O'ahu next month for a private performance at the Les Murakami Stadium on the University of Hawai'i-Manoa campus; that corporate gig prohibits an additional Honolulu show."

More info at the link.
That last sentence is a bummer, but.

Bummer for us on Oahu. But happy for Maui fans of the group. I wonder whenever they will do a show on Oahu again. My wife remembers a show at the Blaisdell about 20 years ago.

There are alot more private corporate concert gigs than many of us are aware of
some are held at the Convention Center.

Here's the Maui News (http://www.mauinews.com/story.aspx?id=33260)story on the concert. It actually makes sense for Steve to be coming to Maui. He hangs out in Wailea/Kihei (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoU-uKYSyFY)a lot and the Maui appearance of the band is the last stop on the current tour.

It actually makes sense for Steve to be coming to Maui.

He might play tourist on Maui, but the only reason they're doing the show there is because they can't do it on Oahu.

“It’s a nice element to kick off the 85th county fair, almost like a prelude,” said fair Director Sherri Grimes.

“My first concern has always been what the county fair is for,” she said, adding that she sees Aerosmith fitting in well with the fair’s overall theme “because of the genre of the music. I’m celebrating 85 years of memories. This will bring in the baby boomers. It will nicely complement it.”

Translation: We don't want no steenking keeds at da fair. Old farts only!

If anyone is planning to go to Maui from another island to this, make up your mind today because Go! and Hawaiian airlines is having a $25 each way ticket sale that is effective only today, with the travel window now to Sept. 30.

Is that the last time Aerosmith played here was the Permanent Vacation tour?

I never saw them in concert. I bet they rock it. Trips my trigger that they're still doing concerts.

I dug up some old ticket stubs I had and an Aerosmith concert in 1983 was only $12.50.

Not a bad idea. I seem to recall the Rolling Stones doing a corporate gig at Hilton Waikoloa which allowed them to do the Aloha Stadium Show 10 years ago since the corporate gig was not on the same island or in the same town.

From $12.50 back in 1983 to $125 in 2007 amazing isn't it? Man I wish I could go to that concert too, I wonder which company Aerosmith is catering to in Honolulu?

Toyota. BTW, I have a bootleg of that 1983 show. It's a great recording from the soundboard, but unfortunately, Steven Tyler was not at his best at that time. His performance of "Dream On" was awful.

Speaking of corporate gigs, a few that I can recall featuring big name artists in the past few years was Matchbox 20 in 2003 at Waikiki Shell for Hewlett-Packard and Sheryl Crow out at Ihilani in 2004 for Astra-Zeneca. Don't know who the client was, but the Eagles played on the Big Island in 2005. Sony has had Donna Summer and Hall & Oates for the Sony Open shindigs. Or so I've heard.:D

The 1983 concert was the "Rock in the Hard Place" tour. Joe Perry and Brad Whitford was replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay during that period. I remember it was a loud and crazy concert and Steven Tyler momentarily stopped the concert and said "If one more you motherf...ers throw anymore firecrackers on stage, we are going to stop the concert".

Anybody has the scoops on when Aerosmith's corporate gig will be? Going down to UH and hear them play by the dorms or in the parking lot sounds more and more attractive.

According to this article (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_tours/aerosmith_to_perform_at_convention_for_toyota_deal ers.html), it will be either the 29th or 30th.

Wouldn't be ironic if they move the venue secretly and instead play some of Aerosmith's CD's over the PA system instead for those camping outside the stadium:D Put a little bit of canned (just for you Sue) applause and cheering and no one outside would know:rolleyes:

Show's cancelled! (http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2007/Sep/19/br/br0126457839.html)

It was nearly sold out too. Bummer for ticket holders. Bigger bummer for those flying in from off-island! :(

This is a real bummer for anyone not from Maui who already spent money on airfare and hotel accommodation$ for this concert. Luckily I was not one of them.

Canceled concerts in this state is so common anymore that I'm shocked at times when some of them actually happen, like U2 for example.

Now the question is has Aerosmith canceled the corporate show on Oahu as well?

Take whatever I say with a grain of salt...

But word through the grapevine says the Toyota (International!) show at Murakami Stadium is still on. This is just what I hear from the sources at you know where.

Saw Uncle Tom tonight at a mahalo party but I was too chicken to ask what's up. Sorry. He did look nice in his white suit, though!

Just a guess but I notice they rescheduled the Chicago show for 9/24...giving them very little time to jet off to Maui and play the 26th...maybe they asked for a date change and none was available so Maui got axed....

Since Hawaii was the end of the tour I have NO idea why they couldn't have played Chicago AFTER Hawaii and everyone would have been taken care of....

Los Lonely Boys tomorrow will be better anyway....:)

You are correct, the Oahu corporate show is still on most likely because they will make more money off of that show than probably the Maui and Chicago shows COMBINED!!

It also sounds like HPD, UH Campus Security, etc. will be discouraging people from getting close to Les Murakami Stadium if you do not have a ticket. Of course those fortunate to be in one of the high rise dorms by all means use it to your advantage.

First the Rolling Stones canceled, now Aerosmith. Hawaii is going to get a bum rap with top rated shows canceling here. I'm out $70, cancellation fee for airline and hotel. Hey Moffatt, you should refund all Oahu people hotel and airfare that got ripped off due to Aerosmith canceling! I hope the corporate show Aerosmith is play at UH next week gets some bad karma. What goes around, comes around.

They canceled a scheduled show to play a rescheduled show...these guys wanted OUT of the Maui show....that reschedule story is a sham...I mean the original Chicago show was 9/10...Maui was on the books LONG before that...this band can rot in hell.

One rumor I heard is that Aerosmith had booked the Hawaii Superferry to move equipment from Maui to Honolulu... figure it out... no Superferry and their first obligation in Hawaii is to play the Toyota convention at Rainbow stadium.

The Advertiser didn't mention what the compensation might be.

But this (http://www.mtv.ca/news/article.jhtml?id=4629) MTV report states, that under the state's consumer law, each plaintiff in the case is eligible for up to triple their losses in damages and up to five-thousand dollars if over the age of 62.

So if you know anyone over the age of 62 that bought tickets and wants to join in the suit, I would suggest them to register with http://www.SueAerosmith.com (http://%5BI)
or

craigwatanabe

Well if the suit goes thru you can bet that will be another black eye on doing business in Hawaii.

Pretty soon no major entertainment venue will want to produce a show here because if it cannot be done...they'll be sued! So why even attempt that very possible reality and simply look at another state to play at that won't sue if the lead singer catches the flu.

I'm just getting so fed up with too much activism nowdays. Everybody wants to be compensated for everything that goes wrong in life.

It seems we as a society simply cannot or will not accept the fact that SH*T Happens!
