The video for the Eagles' single How Long premiered today on Yahoo Music. The link in the graphic doesn't work but try this one: http://music.yahoo.com/premieres

I think it's pretty cool how they are using the internet to premiere the video clip and taking preorders for the October release of their new album 'The Long Road to Eden". This is the first Eagles album of all new tracks in more than 28 years. The new album will be available exclusively from Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Walmart.com and eaglesband.com

You can "instantly download the single" from eaglesband.com - but it isn't working for me. Maybe too many people trying to access it?

I thought their concert at the Blaisdell a couple years ago was one of the best I've ever been too and I hope they make a stop over here on their tour.

Would be so nice if they could settle their differences with other bandmembers like Felder, Meisner, Leadon, etc. and get together again.

I heard the song on the radio at about 4:30 this morning. It rocked! I mean, it really, really rocked. I didn't know what I was hearing at first, so all I thought was, "Man, this unfamiliar song sure sounds great!"

Then I recognized the voices! It's one of those rare songs where the guys take turns on lead vocals, so everyone gets a moment up front (like the guys in N*Sync). While undeniably Eagles, it was also not rooted in the past; it had a certain now-ness about it that I really appreciated.

I was extremely skeptical about a new album, but I'm sold. This new song holds its own against just about any of the Eagles classics.

It's one of those rare songs where the guys take turns on lead vocals, so everyone gets a moment up front (like the guys in N*Sync). For the record (no pun intended), the lead vocals are Frey and Henley; Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit don't have leads on the new song.

While undeniably Eagles, it was also not rooted in the past; it had a certain now-ness about it that I really appreciated. Interesting observation. I felt it clearly did have roots in their past songs. [/shrug]
I liked the song, but it didn't automatically go onto my list of their favorites. The most recent song of theirs that totally knocked me out was "Hole In The World", written the day after 9/11. Chickenskin to da MAX.

I like this new song by The Eagles. I think the freshness factor about the song is that it probably fits well into a contemporary country music radio format. I'll probably buy the album too.

I agree with LikaNui.

I hear, "Well I been runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load..." or at least lots of it in that song.

It's a good song. I like it OK. Don't know if I'd buy it. (I have personal "issues" associated with Eagles songs of the early '70s.) But it's a nice song.

Best of luck to them.

I agree with LikaNui. I always knew you were brilliant. :p

I hear, "Well I been runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load..." or at least lots of it in that song. Yeah, "Take It Easy" is exactly the song I thought it sounded like, too.
I'll definitely buy the new album, however.

(I have personal "issues" associated with Eagles songs of the early '70s.) Any particular reason that you can share with us?
No problem if you need to keep it private. I have "personal issues" with Kenny Loggins, who did something that won him a permanent -- and very high -- position on my own Sh*t List.

The Eagles will be playing the new song LIVE on the Country Music Association awards show this coming Wednesday night on KITV at 7pm.
Watch the entire show. You'll be pleasantly surprised. Garanz.

Nabbed "How Long" off the aforementioned EaglesBand.com website, courtesy Audio Hijack Pro. Going to give it a few of good listens, but on first blush, I like it. Almost too perfectly "Eagles" in sound and style. This track would've sounded timeless in 1974!

I just got back from buying the new "Long Road Out Of Eden" double CD. As Ryan noted (and a belated Happy Birthday to ya, Ryan!), you can order or download it from the Eagles website, or (as I discovered yesterday at Borders) it's only available at WalMart or Sams Club.
So I drove out to WalMart in Pearl City today and bought it. $11.88. Cheap! Packaging saved 'em a bunch of money; it's kind of a cheap-looking carboard-ish package instead of a good jewel case, but what the heck.
Looking forward to listening to the whole thing, and especially to watching the CMA show tonight.

I see the video on CMT quite a bit and watched them on the awards.

I'm not sold on American country music. It's all overproduced and sounds the same. I much prefer the more traditional sound of Australian country music. My favorite is the best in Oz.

Did anybody see the Eagles interview on "60 Minutes" tonight? Very cool. First time they've ever done an interview together. And good fun seeing the old footage from the mid 1970s too.

Yes, it was a good story and what a treat to see them jamming in their 'circle of fear!'
