Thanks! I step out at the wrong times and clouds, dangitall.

Hmm....lunar eclipse and higher tides.....the 'ole Cherokee in me says....expect a magnitude 6 or even 7 quake in the southern pacific from oh....hawiian islands even down to Tonga area, etc...in the next week.

LOL yep, I dared to say it. Guess I better go smoke something, huh? :D :p

Just went total, I think.

Way too many clouds in the sky right now. It was clearer this afternoon.

I just came back - drove to Barbers Point.

This event has me longing for a professional style camera - I could only get good shots from a video camera.

Yeah me too, my little Kyocera point and shoot just doesn't have the light gathering to catch the total lunar eclipse going on right now.

Out here in Keaau, the sky is clear and the eclipse is spectacular. From my vantage point I can also see the glow off the clouds from the new lava vent too. Great night for some star gazing

Where's the X2 play button? It's cool, but slow.

I'm having a serious case of lens envy.

A bunch of us "Geocachers" got together and held an event alongside the goings on at the Bishop Museum. What a Blast!

We turned a lot of people on to our hobby and all enjoyed the eclipse to totality together.

And yeah, I've got lens envy too. Great shots and job of photoshopping!

That's a great composite, Mel.

It was fun logging into Flickr this morning, and seeing a whole bunch of eclipse photos turn up in my local contacts' photostreams. (And a couple from friends in Australia!) I regret that I slept through the whole thing... not that I would've seen much from Mililani, I suspect.

They say it was the longest eclipse in years. And that it'll be some time until the next one, at least for Hawaii.

That's a great composite, Mel.

Indeed. Even if I had that lens, I wouldn't have thought to do that. Good job!

PZ

I was up last night. I walked outside and two neighbors had telescopes set up. The view with the naked eye was better because you could see the colors. When looking with the telescope the moon looked normal colored. I would say the red/orange colors looked unearthly. :)

So the view from Mililani was great. ;)

Living right smack dab in the middle of a West Nile virus mosquito spraying area, I wasn't about to go outside at 2am.

Good thing that this was viewable from my bedroom window. Great view of eclipse while sitting on a BodyBall and watching ESPN. Total eclipse did have an unearthly tinge.

Mel, thanks...dang professional-looking pics!

I didn't see it cuz of clouds, well just a twenty second peek, but a friend in EST dang I forget where in canada, she had no clouds and sat on her patio very early in the AM and said she caught the whole thing and that it was breathtaking.
