Haven't been there for about a year, so... any new secret spots for good parking near the Shell?

Not that I know of... it's a NIGHTMARE!

I usually catch 'da bus' or a 'da cab' - then I can also enjoy the margaritas that they sell...

I used to go down there early and park at the zoo - that lot on Kalakaua and Kapahulu. After 4 PM, you're less likely to get a ticket. Someone told me the cops don't ticket after 4 and I never got a ticket. Also the street that parallels the shell. If you get there early and window shop or go for lunch or dinner, it's good. A lot of people park along Kalakaua by Kapi'olani Park.

If you don't mind walking a little, park at the Princess Kaiulani and get your parking ticket validated - I'd go to the Moana all the time and they'd validate the ticket that was good for the lot across the street. I think it's good for 4 or 5 hours and only costs $1. Cheap parking. I did that all the time when I went down Waikiki to any of the hotels to catch entertainment.

You need to watch out for cops. Honolulu cops are sneaky and I'd call HPD all the time for cops violating the laws like parking at expired meters or not using their turn signals or tail gating.

The main piece of advice is GET THERE EARLY!!!

Thanks, LLK, but all I was asking was if there were any NEW secret spots in the past year. I've been to many dozens of events at the Shell before. But thanks for trying!

I haven't been back since 1999. I can only imagine it's more congested than when I lived there. Just trying to help.
