From this link (http://starbulletin.com/breaking/breaking.php?id=6484) at the Star-Bulletin, posted half an hour ago:
Colt Brennan is the University of Hawaii's first Heisman Trophy finalist.
"Awesome," coach June Jones said. "It's a great achievement for Colt and he's very deserving."
Brennan will be on a flight to Newark, N.J., on Thursday night, headed to New York for the Saturday night ceremony announcing the winner of college football's biggest individual award.
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Arkansas running back Darren McFadden are considered favorites to win the award.
The finalists will be officially announced Wednesday.

Yeah, neither did KGMB's 10:00 news. They only reported that the announcements would be made on ESPN tomorrow.

EDIT: Scratch that... they just did a breaking news report and credited the Star-Bulletin.

KHON reported it on their 6 p.m. news, citing "sources close to the selection process." I'm wondering if it's an inside source, or just a broken embargo or something.

I dunno. There's not many information on the article posted on the web. Shouldn't Colt be the one to receive the news first? And if he did, shouldn't Star-Bulletin try to get a quote or announcement from Colt to confirm the invite?

Ah. Now it's official: http://starbulletin.com/breaking/breaking.php?id=6490

And yet no comment from Colt. You guys gotta do better.

That's weird. I've seen several articles online since I first heard it this morning on KGMB Sunrise.

This AP Story (http://www.heisman.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/120507aaa.html) is the one I've seen circulated all day today.

My apologies for misunderstanding your post.

What difference does it make which source broke/reported it first?

And how do you know that Colt hadn't already received the news before media got wind of it? I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't be the first one to know (with the exception of JJ, of course).

Joe Moore went out of his way last night to emphasize KHON's early scoop of the news, well over 12 hours in advance of the official announcement. I guess it wasn't a foregone conclusion or anything, but still I gotta wonder just how "secret" the final slate is the day before it's revealed.

Really?

Too bad their OTA transmitter is down. I'm not catching anything on Channel 2. :p

Florida's sophomore QB Tim Tebow took the Heisman Trophy, as many predicted. Of course, Colt was thrilled just to be in New York. Of course, I blogged the announcement at Hawaii Blog (http://www.hawaiiweblog.com/2007/12/08/heisman-trophy-eludes-brennan).

Next up, Sugar Bowl. Let's see how much higher he can push his touchdown record!

Colt's video probably caused a few spontaneous vacation reservations to be booked! Those were some gorgeous shots!

Tebow, my :mad::mad::mad: !!!

Sighs. UH have no choice but to spank Tebow and the Gators next season.
