Alwayz luv the loozers who are Hawaii's fake "news" people. How they look themselves in the mirror.
http://the.honoluluadvertiser.com/article/2007/Dec/14/br/br6587940132.html
Advertiser says "OHA trustee" caught in DUI
KITV says "OHA trustee" caught in DUI
If Hillarys daughter Chelsea was arrested for something, would they say "Hedge Fund manager arrested?" and then sneak in the fact that she is the ex president's daughter at the end of the story.
If George Bush's daughter was caught drinking, would the "news" whores call her "Bush's daughter"? or would they use headlines "College students". Oh wait, that happened already. They called them "Bush's Daughters"
Come on. Are people in Hawaii that lolo? This is the way "news" is made today. God forbid they say "Former Democrat Governors son and current OHA Trustee busted for DUI". Nope can't say that. Too many erincyn okole's to lick downtown. To many incestuous relationships. Too many back room deals. Don't want to offend the monopoly power.
Nope. Better to associate the DUI with the Hawaiian group. Dey juss drunks anyway.
U guyz don't know how much your mind is rotten if you still pay for and read the local "news" rags.
Suuuuukkkkkkkkkkkkkuuuuuuuuuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzz!

They called them "Bush's Daughters"First of all, in both these instances, the children have different names from their parents. If you had said “Waihe‘e pleads not guilty to DUI,” most people would assume you mean the former governor. So a headline like that would just confuse the reader. If you said “John Waihe‘e IV pleads guilty to DUI” people STILL would assume you meant the former gov.
What if they used kamuelakea’s exact words “Former democratic governor’s son pleads guilty to DUI”? Aside from the fact that it’s too long a headline, and uses the “beat around the bush” style ala “aunty's sister’s cousin”... readers would be scratching their head going “which one?” Ariyoshi? Burns? Waihe‘e?
No the reason they used OHA trustee, is that clearly defines the individual as a current government official getting busted. If you took Journalism 101 at any school in the world, you understand why that is newsworthy.
Try use common sense for once in your life, Kamu. Instead of this emotional, illogical “I am kanaka, therefore I am victim” mentality. For once stop taking your cues from Al Sharpton, and look at things objectively.

I don't think I've read anything so far from him/her that defines this person as Hawaiian/Kanaka Maoli. But........I certainly could be wrong since I haven't read everthing this person has posted. But, on the other hand - does it really matter what the person is? we all have very strong opinions on matters.

The person who was governor is John Waihe'e III (or the 3rd). John Waihe'e IV (or the 4th) is the son.

I knew a salesman once who was such a great salesman that he sold a double bed to the Pope.

I think the Pope guy you are referring to is Leo XIV, or something like that. No relation to John III, John IV or John XXIII. But I could be mistaken. Maybe Leo XXL?

Maybe Leo XXL?Depends on how much holiday-treat eating I do this year.
I recall Popes John Paul I & II, but I'm still waiting for Pope Ringo George I.
And John Paul II is NOT the son of John Paul I.
(Sansei: apologies if we are confusing you - we're just having fun lifting this thread so far off the track that it'll be catching a wave before long.)

Itʻs John Paul II and George Ringo III.
Remember the rule: George before Ringo, except after Yoko.

Wasn't he just the "Best?" :p Yes he was, for Pete's sake. :p
But in addition to him, remember that Billy Preston (R.I.P.) also earned a Fifth Beatle nod.
Pope Peter I can see, but Pope Billy?

That, and being quite out of date. Ever since OHA trusteeship eligibility was opened up to non-Hawaiians, it no longer automatically means that an OHA trustee is Hawaiian. So any criticism of the headline being a slam against Hawaiians falls flat.
In addition, why should John Waihe'e IV primarily be identified as "the former governor's son" at this point in his life? He's not a kid anymore. He's in his late 30s, for goodness sakes. Also, he is a current officeholder. Why shouldn't he be identified as an OHA trustee? That's exactly what he is.
