We stay home each NY Eve now, as we have a killer view of Seattle's Space Needle (where the main fireworks display occurs.)
Breathe well, my Island compadres; thanks for another year of conversation.

We come to the Big Island to recharge our souls, to find peace and quiet and clean air, to welcome the New Year with affection and reflection. Up here at 3,500 feet in Volcano Village, it's been cool and serene and... just perfect.
We do have neighbors, however, and after so much silence, tonight they did set off one string of firecrackers. Just enough to wake me up, though the rest of the family snoozes away. I'm able, however, to check in with my online 'ohana now, to wish everyone a very timely and earnest Happy New Year.

it's past midnight. I'm at home with P.K. My daughter is working and my son is in Iraq. My odda daughter is with Justin who just came home from Iraq. He returns in October. I'm intoxicated to the max.
Happy New Year from MWH!!

I had quite a fireworks show outside my Waikiki window! I saw only bits and pieces of ATM's show as the condo building on the corner of Piikoi and Ala Moana blocked all but the extra high aerials. Still...can't complain about a free show while being able to watch it dressed in my jammies! That was to the far left.
To the far right, facing mauka, was a private, illegal show of aerials! Appeared to be taking place in Manoa Valley and the McCully area. Lots of individual pyrotechnics. Good thing we've had a bunch of rain!
In the middle, blocked here and there by condo buildings, was the Round Top/Tantalus area with more aerials. Amazing!
Those I couldn't actually witness I saw reflected in windows of the various high rises. Very cool!
Oops. Let the sirens begin.
Once again...HAPPY NEW YEAR

I didn't know they were called the "Georgia Chickens." And speaking of Georgia, I hope everyones New Year starts off gigglingly with the photo at this link (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showpost.php?p=179420&postcount=24)!!! :p
It's a windy rainy day here on the windward side, perfect for an overdose of football.
Fireworks started over here a couple of weeks ago, and got serious mid-afternoon yesterday and just kept increasing. Thankfully the tradewinds stayed strong this year and blew all that owful sulfur smell away pretty quickly.
Anyway, Happy New Year to all of you here on HT.
Go Warriors!!!

I haven't been posting too much, hectic holidays around here. Just wanted to say Hau'oli Makahiki Hou to my HT 'ohana.
First thing keiki #2 (5 yr old) said after it turned to the new year was, "2008? We go to Hawai'i this year. Mom, where is the airport? I don't know where it is. I need to find it so we can go." I'm hoping for a good year and I also hope to meet some of you guys, finally. :D
Anyway, GO BOWS, SAFEWAY KAPAHULU, WARRIORS AND ALL DAT KINE STUFFS. :p
IMUA NA KOA! :D

And you were griping because you cannot get good TV reception ova there. I'd rather be there than in my crowded neighborhood on NYE.

And you were griping because you cannot get good TV reception ova there. Ummmm... what?!? You must be thinking of someone else. I get great reception here and always have, so clearly I never griped about it.
Happy New Year to you anyway (and to whoever you were thinking of)!
