As started by Pomai here (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showpost.php?p=180152&postcount=102), I started this thread to focus the topic on the Top 19 Reasons to Quit Coaching the UH Football Program.
Pomai's original post:
I still don't buy this "19 reasons". Most of us can easily come up with 19 reasons or more to quit our jobs, while most of us get paid a small fraction of his current 800K salary.
Whah, whah, whah.
Let's have fun (although it's not fun) with this.
Top 19 reasons to quit coaching the UH Football program:
19) We lost the Sugar Bowl
18) If Colt, Devon and Ryan is leaving, I'm too
17) I'm tired of SPAM Musubi, time for some Texas steaks!
16) I'm tired of this "system"
15) Our bathrooms don't even have soap!
14) I'm reaching retirement age, and 800K+bonuses and benefits (like Aloha spirit and living in Hawaii) isn't enough of a nest egg for me. I deserve more. Way more.

You can gladly replace the ones I came up with. Those were just starters.
Oh man. That freeway pillar one was an owee. :p
Also, it's (what seems apparent) too late now, but we might also want to add into this thread:
TOP 19 REASONS TO CONTINUE COACHING THE UH FOOTBALL WARRIORS:
19.) $1.2 million dollar pay raise
18.) Now there's soap in the bathrooms
17.) Tyler Graunke has a winning potential

I think it will only 50% of that as Herman has already spent an estimated $2M flying friends and family to the Sugar Bowl ..........
He's an "expert" at spending public $$$$$$$. I wouldn't be surprised when an audit shows that his travel and entertainment expenses are more than the annual $50-60K recruiting budget for the UH football.

IIRC, the WAC takes a chunk of it.
Another reason to leave: JJ is divorced and his daughter is estranged. :D
EDIT: Yet another reason: He refuses to eat humble pie served up by Tebow and Urban Meyer.

On a serious note I don't buy into all these reasons that are coming up in this thread (I'm hoping their jokes). June Jones' primary reason for leaving is the UH Athletic department's unwillingness to help the football program improve as the team improves. If the football team continues to win, and continues to pull in more revenue, I don't think that it is unreasonable for the coaches and players to expect at least some improvements to their facilities over the years.
Those of us who know or have personal/professional connections to Coach Jones have no doubt about his "not about the money" stance. He was offered $1.7M by UH for his new contract (unconfirmed), but he's considering going to SMU who's offering $1.6M-$2.2M? Doesn't seem like a huge amount of extra money that would incent him to move his home and family. In addition he'd have to adjust to a totally different football program rather than continue grooming the one he's been with for years.
I only agree with #1 on the first list posted in this thread. Herman Fraizer ruined our football matchups last season, and now he's going to lose us the best thing to happen to UH Athletics in recent decades.

Yasu! These were all funnies, nothing more. No serious discussion going on here. The serious stuff is over here (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?p=180165).
7) Visiting coaches don't want to play football. They only come here to sit on the beach and drink mai tais.

We should send this to JJ. Along with a message of mahalo and wishing him the best of luck in his new endeavor.
P.S. UH gotta play SMU in the regular season schedule within 5 years you're there.

No, was POMAI who started this list. I just posted it to its own thread because was funny and was derailing the "serious" discussion!

One thing I've heard too little of - if JJ stuck around, he had no where to go but down.
