Sounds like a National Enquirer headline. Now this person may believe himself to be a man and from the pics he certainly does look masculine but he is not biologically a man at all. He had breast surgery and took testosterone but he retained all of his female reproductive equipment. So sorry, Bud---you still qualify for the Wahine restroom.
He's originally from Hawaii:

Are you saying he -- who used to be a she -- impregnate himself without outside donor?

Can anyone offer a scientific/biological explanation?

So, she's a hermaphrodite with a testosterone-made penis?

The Star Bulletin article did say Thomas became pregnant through home insemination. Unless their home has the facilities for in vitro fertilisation I am going to assume it's with the help of a third person.

No the Star Bulletin didn't say that Thomas is a hermaphrodite, just a female to male transexual. My advice is don't worry about it, besides if Thomas was able to asexual reproduce that would be a way bigger headline than pregnant man.

I beg to differ, I think he should be able to use the men's restroom.

Logical.

David Crosby's not the donor, right? :D

He can use any restroom he wants as far as I'm concerned but he certainly does qualify for the Wahine restroom.
Using a urinal might be tricky but with some cleverness I suppose it could be managed. Writing his name in the snow might be tougher.

Sometimes when I eat too much of my wife's "so ono" food, she jokingly asks me whe I'm gonna give birth (I have a decent sized opu).

I tell her, "After lunch".

The egg cells of the child to be were doused with Testosterone for a while before conception. It remains unknown what the children of these eggs will be like when they emerge into this world. Such a child has no say in the matter, but I honestly hope future parents will think carefully before experimenting with having Keikis

That's Keiki. No plural:) Hey experimentation is fun...hmmm let's see if the guy is on top they'll have girls. So I have all boys so yeah I'm the lazy one always on the bottom. Now if we did it sideways I wonder what would happen?

You nailed it on the head! And in the attempt to impregnate herself, Beatie even stopped taking hormone injections, which has made her voice higher again.

Why is everyone making a big deal about a woman (with surgically reduced breasts and wearing mens clothes) getting pregnant?

Egads, I know I better tiptoe lightly here. How folks express love for one another is entirely their own business.I got no beefs there.
My comment was not meant to demean ,merely to point out that chemical exposure of the ladies egg cells to normally absent hormones might end up with a hapless individual being born with abnormalities that they were unable to express any choice in, and will have to live with for a lifetime.
Calmly,
Lens

'Pregnant Man' Gives Birth to Girl (http://www.abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=5302756&page=1)
Thomas Beatie, the transgender man who made headlines as the so-called "pregnant man," gave birth today to a healthy baby girl, ABC News has learned. The birth - at a hospital in Bend, Oregon - was natural, according to a source, who added that earlier reports that Beatie had planned a caesarean section are false.

I'm still trying to figure out the "home insemination" part. Especially with "his" wife Nancy at home.

At my grandpa's farm they used long plastic gloves.

Why is everyone making a big deal about a woman (with surgically reduced breasts and wearing mens clothes) getting pregnant?I have to agree. It would be far more amazing if it was male-to-female transgender having a baby. As it is now, it’s just a woman with a beard and small bewbs as far as I’m concerned. You don’t need surgery to find a whole bunch of those in the world. :o

Yep...that whole keiki o ka aina thingie! Thomas as Tracy was a finalist in the Miss Hawaii Teen USA pageant.

The couple appeared on a Babawawa special tonight. They moved from Hawaii to Oregon in 2005.

I gotta say...that baby is absolutely beautiful.

Well, far be it from me to criticize or judge anyone else's personal lifestyle and choices. I wish them all the happiness in the world, however many children Beatie decides to have.

But I wonder why she chose to have another one so soon after the first baby. Is it because she thinks that her biological clock is ticking? (She is 34 years old.) Or is she angling for a fresh wave of publicity in order to sell her new book?

I thought about this, too, and maybe it's a combination of book publicity and Beatie's possible desire to return to testosterone treatment as soon as child bearing days are over.

Another curious factoid...Beatie's 46 year old wife is nursing the baby. She said her body just "changed" and she started lactating. Decades ago when I worked in ob/gyn I heard of this happening but it's by no means common. Quite the contrary.

But yes, FM, the Beaties have made some unconventional choices and it comes down to whatever works for their family. I was sorry to hear that Beatie's family has disowned her. Nancy's family seems to embrace the situation.
