It's been a few months since he's posted to HT. Hopefully he's busy touring with the Tikiyaki Orchestra! Or, recording. Or, maybe he's just in zen mode on the Big Island!
Hmmm...any clues?

It was Tikiyaki's CD playing on my iPod today that made me realize that he might be MIA. When I got back to my office I checked HT and saw his last post was Feb. 15.
Tikiyaki? Come out...come out...wherever you are!

...and I meant to post here that you were staking out the tiki site these day's.
Anybody whom employs vibes, bongos/congas, and steel guitar, is a favorite in my book!
Loved all the tuber vids you guy's have up.
This world needs more of this!
Who's the steel player? He needs more spotlight time!

Wow, a whole band! Dig the matching outfits, too. I wonder if vocals could be incorporated into Exotica music like this? For some reason, WATCHING you play (vs. just listening to the audio track), I'm expecting you to start singing somewhere along the song. lol
Interesting to see you in front as keyboardist, and not guitarist.
Anyhow, you should easily be able to land a permanent gig at a hotel anywhere in Hawaii. I could see you playing at a classy joint like the Hanohano Room on the top floor of the Sheraton Waikiki.

Aha! There you are. My daughter and I were driving down Kalakaua this morning and the iPod shuffled to one of your songs. Once again I realized you were still MIA...'til I got home. And, there you were! Welcome back.

Thanx ! The steel player is a guy named Gary Brandin. I got turned onto his playing from a band he's in called the Blue Hawaiians...a great Surf band from LA. He is the only other person who played on the CD. Yes, he DOES need more spot light time. We do "Sleepwalk" by Santo and Johnny, and it's basically is all him. I LOVE his playing and it's an honor to have him in the band.,

Well...that Tiki Farm show was pro shot..we have the entire show on tape...you never know.
Actually, I'd rather play LIVE in Waikiki, so you can see it in person. How do I get THAT to happen ?
Me too! That's awesome, Jim.

Man, THAT would be something. Actually, if we just played outside next to the beach in Waikiki, that would be the perfect setting. Maybe the Hilton Hawaiian Village or Dukes....
No singing for us tho'. I find playing instrumental music far more interesting. No words, means let your imagination do all the work. Exotica is meant to set the mood, singing would distract that IMO.
Yes, I play simple organ parts, but I also do alot of bongo-ing, and surf guitar on alot of songs. I have to post more songs with guitar.

Thanx...Glad to be on your iPod...that's always nice to hear.
So, how do I get a gig in Waikiki ? That would be the coolest !

I am now SO all over your band! Gary Brandin is a friend of mine via the computer and the www.steelguitarforum.com (http://www.steelguitarforum.com) He sent me the last vestage of Blue Hawaiians product, their very limited ed. Lava Room DVD, and I still had no idea he was doing this with you guys. I gotsta spreads da woid!
Even tho I'm less than a nobody in Honolulu/Waikiki, I am available to help in any way possible to get you set up and playing somewhere, even if it's merely at La Mariana to start (the last real tiki bar in Hawaii, which would love you), and have the word spread. But, just like Don Tiki (whom you guy's should team up with at times!) knows, there are few places with the smarts to provide stage time for someone/thing that's actually good. But, we are dying for what you guy's are doing, and since there ain't squat around worth a damn, the Waikiki world just may be your oyster.
If only my dream for The Natatorium was true now, you'd have the most killer venue of all time!
The City has performers on their stage occasionally, which is permanently set up on Kuhio (Waikiki) Beach, and would be a great sunset experience for all to enjoy, and get you some fine exposure.
With some work, you should/could get a fan base happening fast if the right things can fall into place.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance!
Thanx tutusue for reviving this thread!
And Thank God for the exclamation key!

Funny you should mention La Mariana. That's where several of us HTers first met Tikiyaki and family...at the HT Christmas party, Dec. 2006. Fun night.

Well...that Tiki Farm show was pro shot..we have the entire show on tape...you never know. Okay, now edit that tape down to the best 5 or 10 minutes, with highlights from several songs, and you've got a "demo reel" to send out to booking agents.
Also, send it to Oprah, Leno, Letterman and all the other talk shows! Network and cable. Even if you get booked on a minor show, it's great exposure and the footage from that can get sent to the biggies too.
Do you have an agent and/or manager?
