With the big flap in California over RW's suing to reclaim $ from a popular design he willingly gave to the State of California with no strings attached, it was interesting to read that he is now 'offering' a similar deal to Hawaii.
He sez he'll "have to talk to the Governor", but Ms. Lingle should make sure it's all down on paper, in our favor, should it progress that far.

We don't know the particulars of his case. But I think it's a good idea to have his design on our license plates. RW is a living legend of sorts, and his paintings are awesome. Someday, that license plate will be worth something...

Really? In today's world, nothing should surprise me, but I hadn't heard of anybody in Cali hoping to cash in on their whale tail plates.

I've never been big on his paintings, finding them merely OK, but he brought Dick Dale out of retirement with a hot show at the Kuilima/Turtle Bay Hotel years ago ('92?), and for that alone I'll shake his hand.

But he's doing himself a disfavor by sounding like an indian giver on the issues in California, and costing the state plenty. Hope we don't fall into a similar trap.
