Interesting article here (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/20/magazine/20wwln-medium-t.html), from a recent NY Times Sunday Magazine, about the challenges of quoting from online boards, and whether or not to correct errors.

I saw a movie called Idiocracy by the creator of Beavis & Butthead and Office Space. The movie is set in the future where we devolved in our intelligence. The main character from the present traveled into the future. When he talked to the people of the future, they called him "faggy" because he spoke in a form of proper English.
That reminds me of going to public school in Hawaii during small kid time. You would be called out for talking like a mahu when you spoke in proper English.

Here's (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-onthemedia31-2008jul31,0,3001043.story) an L.A. Times story about the anonymity of message boards bringing out the vulgar and ignorant.

I don't understand the issue. If it's a direct quotation of something written, you just write the same letters in the same sequence as found in the original. If you find yourself tempted to correct the spelling or grammar, well, just don't, because that would be lying.

Heck, even being identifiable on a message board doesn't deter the vulgar & ignorant...

I'm impressed-- the author managed to get an entire article on deadline by ranting around the watercooler. Impressive creativity.
I wonder how fluent they are in l33tsp33k...
