Magician David Blaine is going to hang upside down for 60 hours straight. He's risking becoming blind by doing this kind of stunt. Wasn't that a fad in the 80's of hanging upside down with your feet clamped to a bar?
One of my stupid stunt I did as a kid was jumping off the roof of the car garage while using an umbrella as a parachute.

I got a gazzilion stupid stunts.....14 of which actually made the ER.
But the best, when I was a kid, by far, was the time when I leaped from one side of the monkey bars to the other, from the top, with the intent of catching the bar, like I had done a 'thousand' times before, only this time it was ultra hot, I had sweaty hands, and slipped right off the bar, landing, plop, on my butt, with my hands behind me, breaking my right wrist. FN OUCH Quit it !!
5 mo. cast and all. Truth is I was showing off for my little brother. Doh!

My most memorable stunt was "popping a wheelie" while on my Honda 750 all the way down the block when I was 17!
Yeah... I got the girl!!!

You had a thing for Mary Poppins? :p
It's pretty funny when you hardly hear young girls pull those kind of stunts, with capes, with homemade parachutes, etc. Just us boys.

I was one of those girls!! I too did the umbrella parachute off the roof, but better than that was when some developers dug a retention pond near my neighborhood. Probably a 15 foot drop, but the bottom was full of soft silty dirt, so I'd run off the edge, giant leaf bag for a parachute, then sink up to my waist in the stuff at the bottom. Then repeat, repeat, repeat, until mom caught on.

You don't tug on Superman's cape. Who would win in a fight between Superman and Darth Vader? That's a guy thing also, thinking of fight scenerios.
The movie Jackass and Youtube can influence teenage guys to do dangerous stunts. How many times will a hit to the groin be a punchline?

David Blaine has a death wish. Either that, or it's pure stupidity.

Even David Blaine admitted that his stunt ended with a letdown. The big finish was an awkward bunjee jump.

There were those bike stunts guys did in Napolean Dynamite. The smart kid who would become an engineer wanted to push the envelope and make the stunt more dangerous. I may be a dummy, but I'm no Crash Test Dummy. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm..
