View Full Version : Ladies, Can you Identify?
Serenity

I notice with myself lately,
a week before the menstrual cycle,
I tend to be moody,grouchy,
and easily angered towards
my hubby(not on purpose).
I use to have control of it,
then without realizing it,
it went out of control.
Once I finally realized
it, I hated myself for doing that
to my hubby.
I'm glad that I finally came to a
realization before it was to late.
Now I can have control of it again.
I just don't want that to occur again.
Can you relate?
Can you Idetify?
Any Cure?

Unfortunately, yes i can identify. But unlike you, i have no husband... so i guess that spares a human being from experiencing my monthly witch-period.
the only thing that has helped me so far is a lot of vitamin b, and the thought that "It's only my period".. Saying that over and over to myself helps.

Thanks Kamlost.
I will try vitamin b.
Hopefully that will
work for me. :)

You may think I am joking at first, but I say, besides making sure you get more than the RDA of B vitamins, EAT CHOCOLATE, and if not, drink it in milk, soy milk, chocolate flavored "Silk" is wonderful for you. If you have the time, do a google or whatever search engine check on "chocolate." There are not only MORE flavanoids in it than ANY other food, which fight free-radicals in our bodies, but there is a naturally-occuring chemical in it, I can't remember its name, that works on the brain/mood in a very positive way!
See there, we weren't, all these years, just oinking on chocolate, but it really does put us all, even males, in a more positive state of mind/mood. It isn't as I thought, that we just get in a good mood cuz we enjoy the taste, but there is much more to it.
Please do pay attention to how much fat is in your diet, yet, dig this....know that chocolate reportedly also has something in it that helps at least a tad, to prevent blood clotting, and too much fat encourages our blood to clot, and I don't mean in a good way. I need to read more about the anti-clotting factor, for even as I type to you about it, seems vagues as if I am dreaming I read this part. Chocolate often comes fat-laden, that is my point, and so one must balance how much chocolate one has, at a given time.
Also, sitting quietly and alone, as in meditation, IF you can get alone for even fifteen minutes, and when doing so at these grouchy periods, strive to silence the mind, that swirl of thoughts where the grouchiness comes from....becoming objective to thinking in words can bring a peace that I have never been able to match. I don't do any eastern type meditation, but I simply become aware of my hands by choosing to notice them, and when I do, I notice they are warm and mabye a TINY bit tingly, meaning I am simply noticing the blood flowing within them, and the life in them. when I can notice my hands I am, at those moments, not lost in thought, and after doing this for at least fifteen minutes approx. the stress or aggravation level has ceased. This can also help you go to sleep, if you are lieing there thinking too much.

Here's something I got in my email.. oh and Craig - shoo!
THE HORMONE WARNING:
The Hormone Hostage knows that there are days in the
month when all a man has to do is open his mouth and
he takes his life in his own hands!
This is a handy guide that should be as common as a
driver's licence in the wallet of every husband, boyfriend,
or significant other!
DANGEROUS: What's for dinner?
SAFER: Can I help you with dinner?
SAFEST: Where would you like to go for dinner?
ULTRASAFE: Have some chocolate
DANGEROUS: Are you wearing that?
SAFER: Wow, you look good in brown.
SAFEST: WOW! Look at you!
ULTRASAFE: Have some chocolate
DANGEROUS: What are you so worked up about?
SAFER: Could we be overreacting?
SAFEST: Here's my paycheque
ULTRASAFE: Have some chocolate
DANGEROUS: Should you be eating that?
SAFER: You know, there are a lot of apples left.
SAFEST: Can I get you a glass of wine with that?
ULTRASAFE: Have some chocolate
EVEN BETTER: Have a glass of wine with your chocolate!
DANGEROUS: What did you do all day?
SAFER: I hope you didn't over-do it today.
SAFEST: I've always loved you in that robe!
ULTRASAFE: Have some more chocolate.
Pass this on to all of your hormonal friends and those who
might need a good laugh, or ? ?..men who need a warning.
And remember:
Money talks....but Chocolate sings.

I especially liked the one "Ultrasafe: Eat cocolate"...LOL.

help with the hormones.
Thank you very much Karen & Kamlost. :)
Craig?,......uh.....

Since its been 5 months old since the last reply,
I figure, it's time to reinstate this thread.
OK......
New Topic question for this month, for any one who wants to reply back....
Question...
What does one do, after shaving, & it start to itch, even after applying Vitamin E lotion?
My request is towards the shin (or below the knee) part.
Does any one have that problem, or is it just me?
Any cure for the itch after shaving??
Just curious.
Aloha.

Put Hawaiian Salt...nah, just joking! I usually put Noni Cream, takes away any kind itch. As for moodiness, chocolates do work. However, for me it's DAPAKOTE AND LITHIUM otherwise...never mind.

1:46 am. It's approaching my time of the month. Bloatness, Headaches, Moodiness takes on a totally different meaning from the normal days. My medications has to be taken or it will be shit alley for those around me! So, everybody last night sounded like a choir, "Did you take your medications?" "Did you take your medications?" "Did you take your.....?"
I finally said, SHUT UP! I went to my room and fell asleep without taking my medications.hehehehehehehehe Serves them right!
It's not easy being a WOMAN. Especially, a WOMAN with MENTAL PROBLEMS... :p

Thanks ladies for at least addressing the "situation". As a guy I've gotten better at picking out that particular tone in her voice so that I don't get upset, because I then know where it's coming from. You can help your man by realizing what's going on with you and warning him too. Remember, we're still the guys that love you.

It's good to be an aware male *g* but it's not always tied to a particular time of the month. This Thanksgiving, my cousin made the turkey using a new recipe. The recipe was a little humbug so she was trying to determine whether it was worth the effort to ever do again or if she should go back to the way she used to do it. She asked her husband if this year's turkey was better than last year's turkey. He paused for a split second and then wisely replied, "The turkey was good." I laughed and asked his son (who's young and has his first girlfriend) if he was taking notes. His son was confused so my cousin clarified that her husband has been married to her long enough to recognize a variation of "does this dress make me look fat?" Her husband knew that if he said this year's turkey was better, he'd be implying that last year's wasn't so good and if he said last year's was better, he'd be implying that she went through all that humbug for nothing. So he wisely bypassed it all and just complimented the turkey.

I wish that her cycle was regular, but it can be 4 - 5 or 6 weeks so I can't just write it down on my calendar like when a bill is due. Which is the normal way I pay attention to important things. Just gotta use my "Spidy" senses instead! ;)

My husband keep s track of mine too I ask HIM if I am going to start soon! He knows it down to the minute! He says he can just tell....his ESP I guess.

boy, do i feel all tmi here...in the space of a week or so, i've revealed quite a few rather personal deets bout meself. ach, well, here's another one.
i have menstrual cycle-related grumpytime (very different from menstrual related sexytime *bad borat impression*). what has been the most important factor in mitigating the wrath of cyn is that a few years ago, i changed from being on the pill (the last brand i used was alesse) to going on nuvaring (http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp).
i do have mood swings, still. however, the spats that the beau and i get into now are relatively minor. and overall, the wierd hormonal...wierdness...like having hot flashes or that sinking feeling that muh armpit ste stink even tho i digos-ed only an hour earlier or the sudden malfunction of the brain-to-mouth filter isn't as much of an issue. mostly i can hold my tongue or keep my anxieties to myself, whereas before i wasn't able to at all.
another option to discuss with your OBGYN-obi (stole that from "Will and Grace") is maybe skipping that one week where you take placebo pills, or in my case, skipping the year i'm sposed to leave the ring out, for several months in a row so that i have my period only every quarter or so.
in fact, seasonale is a pill that is used exactly that way. i even have a friend who doesn't menstruate but once a year, under her OBGYN's direction.
anyway...something to think about, in addition to remembering that really good quality DARK chocolate is the best source for flavonoids. that special dark hershey bar aint gonna cut it (nasty stuff, in my opinion; rather like eating chocolate flavored soap) bcs most mainstream american processing of chocolate removes a large amount of the good stuff. my favorite is the organic dagoba brand (www.dagobachocolate.com)--the eclipse, concado, and xocolatl are glorious experiences, and the flavor is so lucious you're satisfied eating only a couple pieces off the bar, not the entire bar itself. tamura's and down to earth carry dagoba on oahu.
also, chocolate milk, instant cocoa, etc are not good sources of flavonoids. i dunno bout chocolate soymilk and flavonoids, but generally, as long as it's not high in fats and sugars, soymilk itself is very good for women.

....his ESP I guess.
That's the channel I watch sports on, right?
i'm glad I'm single...no cycles to worry about. when I do get married, my wife may be dealing with more than one moody episode per month with me (i.e. when the niners, lakers, or mets lose, and when bills come in)
