I'm starting this thread for people who are looking for lost song lyrics. If you have a song that you are looking for the lyrics or even the music to, post it here or point us to a website or even sheet music vendor from where to get that song's lyrics.

Someone inquired at my website for the lyrics to a song sung by local entertainer Dick Jensen called "Three Cheers For Love." The record came out in 1971 and is long out of print.

I did a quick Google search for this but came up with next to nothing. If someone can do better, tell us.

Well, throwing modesty to the winds, try the International Lyrics Playground (http://lyricsplayground.com/). A music club I'm in started it about two years ago, and I did a little transcription work for it (not much in comparison to many others, though). It focuses on music from the Boomer years. 1971 might be right on the trailing edge; I don't remember.

Thanks for the link to ILP... I tried them but the song lyrics is not available there. Maybe someone who has it will post it.

We received your request for above song lyrics, but unfortunately we
were unable to locate them at the moment. A note has been made
regarding
your request (see our Home Page - Help Find Lyrics link), and we shall
keep our eyes open for it!

any other sites?

I have to look for some lyrics for someone who plays the guitar, and so far, my google tricks haven't come up with lyrics, only albums.

Just type "song lyrics" into a search box. It's astonishing how many there are. It must be over a hundred by now. When we built lyricsplayground we got most of ours from other lyrics sites.

I just dug through the results, and some of them were on the second page using google.

Well, to let you know they try...I received the following email from the proprietor, who knows I live in Hawai'i:

"Someone is asking for the lyrics of "Three Cheers For Love" by Hawaii based artist Dick Jensen in 1971.
Maybe there's a small chance you know them ?"

I only found one song with that title, and it appears to come from a 1936 movie called College Rhythm (see http://www.imdb.com/). No lyrics, though. They're gonna continue to look.

Jensen doesn't seem to have a web site, unfortunately.

A word of warning about song lyric sites. Some are earnest efforts by music lovers, but some are simply fronts to outfits that want nothing more than to get you to download spyware or infest your system with viruses. They get high search engine placement 'cause they've copied-and-pasted thousands of lyrics from other sites... but the minute you get there, hopefully your browser will start screaming. "Install 'Free Search Toolbar' from 'Nastycom Systems'?" Just say no!

Before clicking on that link, in fact, check USENET or the web for reviews or comments about the site. You might find others who weren't as lucky.
