We formally Announce
A Hawaiian Extravaganza.. Danny Couch Emcees New Kona Luau on the Big Island of Hawaii

It hasn't been until now that Danny has announced his New Showroom. Despite posts and internet releases He has just officially signed the contract. I'm proud and honored to have worked with and been asked to Announce: On Danny's behalf

The legendary island entertainer Danny Couch will be Hosting the "Origins" Luau performing at the newly-renovated, Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa in Kona (coming December 23rd.) This resort will be Danny's "Primary Showplace." But don't despair there are plans for him also doing his own show in Honolulu as well. Stay tuned with us for more information on his plans.
He is looking forward to working this venue.

Danny Couch, The Na Hoku Hano Hano award-winning recording artist has been wowing audiences for decades. His recording, "These Islands," was used during the 1998 Miss Universe pageant and has become Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureaus theme song in televised advertising campaigns. Couch's silky yet powerful vocals will add unexpected dimension to the evenings dramatic musical scores and have everyone begging for more at evenings end.

~ Visitors to Hawaii's Big Island will soon celebrate the islands newest and most progressive luau, "Origins" each Sunday and Thursday evening at Kona Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spas luau grounds, under the stars on the Kona Coast.

Set to debut on Thursday, December 23
Origins will offer diners the option of premium Alii (royal) Circle seating with personalized, tableside family-style service. The $79 price, inclusive of tax and tip also includes an open bar. Children 5 to 12 years of age are half price.

Luau goers can opt for more traditional buffet seating. Self-service buffet dining at Origins is $65 price is inclusive of tax and tip.

At "Origins" guests can sit, relax, and enjoy the ambiance of this luau unlike any other in Hawaii hosted by Na Hoku Hano Hano award-winning entertainer Danny Couch.
The evening begins with our one-hour Mai Tai reception. While enjoying the sunset and views from Crystal Blue Terrace, guests can also learn a bit of hula, strum an ukulele, learn about Polynesian body art, pose for priceless pictures and more.
The sound of a conch shell signals the beginning of the evening's entertainment and food, honoring the many cultures of Hawaii.
Luau-goers have the option of our Ali'i Circle seating with tableside, family-style service or, the more familiar buffet seating. Either way, guests will sample traditional Hawaiian luau fare such as roast suckling pig, poi (mashed taro root), and haupia (coconut pudding). Freshly caught fish and prime rib will also contribute to the culinary adventure. Other delectable main dishes, freshly prepared vegetables, colorful greens, and sliced tropical fruits found throughout the Pacific will ensure that every diner finds a favorite among the bounty of foods. The evening culminates with a grand finale performance on stage to match the spectacular setting.

Danny Couch was the lead singer of the Ali`is in the early eighties when they were consisitently at or near the top of the listener-voted top-thirty list (long before Radio Free Hawaii did it, KIKI 83 AM had ballot boxes at malls and takeout places all over the island). If you've heard "You are the Best of My Life" or the Ali`is simultaneous cover of Air Supply's "Here I Am" (while Air Supply was in the top ten nationwide with their song, the Ali`is were in the top ten with the same song--it was strange), you've heard his voice.

His stuff since leaving the Ali`is has been mostly unmemorable (except for the song "These Islands," mentioned in the first post in this thread, which you hear twice whenever you attend the City's Sunset on the Beach), 'though I hear he does a pretty good live show.

The HVCB paid a pretty penny for that song, and for the assorted gorgeous promo videos it accompanies, so you bet your sweet bippy you'll hear it everywhere. It is quite stirring in an appropriately melodramatic way... and when it would play with the Hawaii scenery video montage on planes as I was coming back to Honolulu after a crazy trip to Asia, it was as much a signature part of "coming home" as "Honolulu City Lights" was of leaving.

Of course, as part of my job, I actually found myself using that very same song in one of our own conference promo videos, and after hearing it over and over, hours every day, for nearly two weeks in editing... well, let's just say it took a while before I could stand to hear it on the radio again.

I saw him live a few years back when he headlined the weekly hula show at the Hale Koa Hotel. Surprisingly energetic, nothing like the "lounge lizard" act I'd been expecting. My in-laws quickly bought up a lot of his stuff, which I guess was the point.

Thank you for your comments on Danny's singing.. Unfortunately Mulan was NOT Danny's work! His songs were going to be used in Lilo and Stitch but Disney changed their minds..

(Danny Couch was the lead singer of the Ali`is) Yes indeed he was, also the drummer. Along with Benny Chong, Bobby King, Joe Mundo and Carlos Barboza. (I have some great collectable photos onboard as well as full music clips, ever from his first group The Rolling Coconuts) Their Album The Aliis won 2 "Hoku Awards" in 1982 for Contemporary Album of the Year along with The Single of the Year; You are the Best of My Life. His "Here I Am" was actually taken from the Aliis for Air Supply.

Danny has received the Hoku with the song he wrote at the seasoned age of 12 Danny wrote his first song "From My Heart" which won Song of the Year in 1985. Song of the Year '82 "You Are the Best of My Life" as stated earlier, second for his "From My Heart" in 1985. His (year 2000) award winning Single of the Year; (These Islands) is known world wide. Hawaii Music Awards 1998 presented the Award for Male vocalist of the Year to Danny Couch, "Almost Paradise". The Award for Contemporary Album of the Year: Also went to Danny Couch "Almost Paradise" Best Song "These Islands". The three, Best Song, Best Singer and Best Album of the Year was a sure sign of the future success of this album and single. This beautiful ballad was used as the Theme Song for the '98 Miss Universe Pageant in Honolulu. It was purchased by the State of Hawaii < commercials/video campaign airing on television worldwide, as well as the State of Hawaii incorporating it as it's "Anthem of Tourism/Theme Song."
His Album "Something to Remember" Hawaii Music Award "Peoples Choice" For "Best Hawaiian Contemporary Album of the Year '2002. "Best Contemporary Album of the Year", as well as nominated for "Best Male Vocalist" In the "2003 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards". "Then and Now" was Nominated: For Hoku's in the Contemporary Album, and Male Vocalist of the Year, '04**categories. He currently is nominated for the Hawaii Music Awards with his new release "I Love Hawaii" The Journey.. Also up again for Peoples Choice Internet Artist of the Year.

Danny has been awarded the plaque "Most Requested Artist '03 for the Second Year in a row with the HMA. For the year '04 Danny was voted as "Internet Artist of the Year" Through Hawaii Music Awards and promoted through Aloha Joe. Voted on Peoples Choice by his Fans!

Ah common now, I do have to defend the show at the Hale Koa, and Danny for that matter. The hotel is a military hotel, Danny performed at the Luau for 14 years with minimal pay. When they built the new Garden Showroom they failed to upgrade the sound system, or his pay for that matter. Danny poured out his heart and soul to the croud who adored him, who came back year after year, or multiple times per visit. He is a warm loving person with a caring nature. One who people flock to, wanting to get to know him. He's very personable with his friends. Sure he sells his CD's.. and that's all he sells (HK didn't permit anything else) but he also spends about 11/2 hours after his gig signing autographs and taking photos with his fans. And some he even invites into his Ohana. He no longer performs at the HK, couldn't afford to. He's now in Kona performing by demand at the new Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa. The Hale Koa loses in the end...loses the best performer they've ever had. Danny also performed at the Princess Kaiulani right after 911 for over a year. This was a free show specifically geared towards the locals, who no longer were allowed in the HK. He truly saw that hotel through some difficult times

Danny is nice lounge singer, but far from the creme de la creme of Hawaiian performers. Do you ever wonder why he never appears on the bills of any of the major concerts or events? He's good, but just good. Just like hundreds of others.
Lea, I doubt that you ever read replies to your spam, but in the off chance that you do I have to tell you that I feel you're doing more harm to Danny than good. Listen. We understand that you love Danny Couch, and that's cool. That's fine. If you would like to discuss your passion for the man and his music, well, let's talk aboout it. We can handle it. I'm overly zealous about some of my favorite musicians, too, so I can relate.

My problem is that you don't want to discuss anything; all you want to do is generate interest in your projects. It's as if you're dropping in on Thanksgiving Dinner bearing nothing but Amway products for us all to sample and purchase, without even joining us at the table or sticking around to see if mom's going to burn the biscuits again ('cause she always does).

Seriously, LikaNui's right. I like Danny a lot and have seen him at the Hale Koa many times. I was disappointed when he was replaced by some lame-ass named Glen.....something.......Medera? Modelo? Whatever......he really sucks and we never went back. Glenny's voice does not have the range, nor the depth of Danny's

My husband John and I went
To see Danny Couch at the Sheraton 4/25/07,
At about 655 PM we came back upstairs luckily were second in line to enter the show room .
I had been chatting with a lady who was with her group of Navy wives, when John tapped me on the shoulder and said
"Honey, you might want to see this,",I turned around. and said, "On my God, Honey, who is that?? ( I knew very well who it was, just couldn’t believe it !!! ) John said, I think it is Danny, dear. Danny Couch was right there !!!!!
Greeting the lady in front of us! I did not expect him to be there right at the door to the show room, How many entertainers are greeting you at the door!!!

I was almost speechless ( For me, that is something new, LOL } and felt like a school
Girl l, trembling with excitement on her first date!! Just that morning at the Aloha Stadium Flea Market, I had been talking to Patty ,( a nice lady who has a Chinese Seed and Fruit booth about Danny Couch and his music . She handed me her business card and said show this to Danny and he will give you an extra special autograph.

Well. My turn came, WOW !!!, I hazily remember telling him how much , ( I was in a daze, almost like a out of body experience }
I Love his music, Danny gave me such a wonderful
Hug and then the three of us posed for the picture you see above.. Danny Couch is such a
Warm, humble and wonderful person. and Girls!! Let me tell you! OOO La La, Sigh!! Danny is also very handsome and charismatic. He has none of the pretenses or aritificialites that
Many entertainers have today.

Danny came out on stage and just lit up the
Room with his wonderful charismatic presence by singing " Hawaii, My Paradise" When you actually see Danny Couch perform you will see the total Danny, If you love his music and have not seen him perform, please do so, You will fall even more in love with this warm, wonderful man's music If you have not heard his music, go to his show, you will be come an instant fan.

Danny sang old and new favorites and took the time to interact with
The audience on a warm one on one basis, just like we were at his
home,in his back yard, When Danny sang his romantic ballads like Kuuipo ( My SweetHeart,) You feel like the song is being sung in your ear, just for you. Danny Couch sings the words and the emotions of any song he performs. They so truly come from his heart. Danny becomes the song he is singing and is united as one with his song and his audience and his music becomes one with you, a part of you forever.

When Danny sang These Islands
I just could help but crying.
Danny's show lasted 90 minutes, and seemed to go much to fast. Afterward, Danny took time to talk to all of his guests., we all now felt like his friends. I left feeling elated but a little sad like I had to leave a dear friend that I had traveled a long way to visit

I could write pages and pages about Danny's Wonderful Show, but mere words cannot begin to describe how I felt that night, Seeing Danny Couch perform his wonderful music.
