So the Chinese are clamoring for the Colonel's KFC, huh? I wonder what happens if the avian flu virus spreads again and they have to kill all their chickens to stop its spread? Then what will they have on the menu? "Kentucky Fried Dog?" "Broasted Snake, Original Flavor?"
What's kinda odd is most of those "exotic meats" all DO kinda taste like chicken, if you didn't know what you were eating...

That's because its all in your mind.
If someone says that the food tastes like chicken, then your mind will think its chicken; if someone says it tastes bad, then it'll taste bad.

Eh, fresh crab neva used to be bad...oni come pilau wen da crabs go live in polluted water or da store no handle 'em correctly. :D
And KFC already all over da world...Pepsi owns da company. In 2002, it split off its fast food holdings into a new company called Yum! Brands, Inc. Da company, which owns A&W All-American Food Restaurants, KFC, Long John Silvers, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants, is the world's largest restaurant company in terms of system units with nearly 32,500 in more than 100 countries and territories.
Up here, we get fast food places that sell both Pizza Hut and Taco Bell in da same store! (I wonder if can get antacids on da side to go, too! :D )

In Kona, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are in the same parking lot. (Nothing else is there, just them....)

The A&W / Long John Silver's at the Moanalua Shopping Center is no more. The Navy's redeveloping that huge lot; the external eateries are all still there, however (Pizza Hut, Jack's, Taco Bell, McD's, KFC, and that Chinese place).
Also, KFC will never be Wal-Mart; the food there's not inexpensive enough! I love me some KFC, but I always feel like I paid a buck or two more than I shoulda.

Pinacboy, I would have never imagine, oneday seeing the preparations of "RATS" in person, pictures online or in a book! As a cook, I find it interesting. As a coocoo person, I find it not odd at all. As a person living in the United States  !

I have to admit, that last picture of the cooked rat looks pretty good. I'd taste it, at least.
I'm probably about to regret hitting that "send reply" key.

Eh Auntie, since I consider you one otority in matters of da downtown Honolulu Chinatown area, can you eedah confirm or deny for me weddah or not da term meownapua is based mostly on fact or fiction? Is there actually a relatively low population of cats in dat area, say compared to Waterfront Park in Kaka'ako where I saw choke cats living in and among da boulders of da breakwater? And if so, can it be directly attributed to those "in da business" like da peeps from Wo Fat, Char Hung Sut et al? :D

Don't get me started on cat feeders. They're just one rung up the ladder from those crazy old lady cat hoarders with a hundred cats in the house.

Lurkah, Chinatown has CATS but not as much as Waterfront or the Kakaako area. the rason being is the RATS there makes the CATS look silly in size. Of course there are businesses that have their pets running around the place for all to see. One is a Fat Cat owned by Amy of Amy's Bar on the corner of Smith and Hotel Streets! He's friends with the RATS, same size das why! :p :D
Auntie Lynn
ps. there are certain establishments in town that RATS come out to play on the tables and running around on the floor for all to see at night. It's a known and common problem...one that the health department knows about. Unfortunately, the only solution would be to burn down the whole Chinatown like before!

Man that video was messed up. I remember my gramps and uncles killing pig and chicken whenever there was a luau. They never put the animals in the boiling water live like that.
I remember on one of those investigative report shows they did something on China and its liking to cats as a restaurant dish. It showed a vid of the guy putting a live cat in boiling water, poor thing was all shaking... still alive, then the guy knocks it out! That's freakin evil.
