You say you're sick and tired of gridlock, high crime, dirty air, the impersonality of the city and you want to move somewhere nice and quiet with that small hometown feeling where the cost of living isn't too high?

Welcome to the Red State Free Land giveaway! In the middle part of this country (Kansas, Iowa and those other landlocked Great Plains states), the local governments are so worried about the "brain drain" that they are actually giving away free land to encourage people to move into their towns! And if enough people from "out here" move "over there", maybe the Midwest won't seem so godforsaken! ;)

That's what I was thinking! :) Given the population density in some states, it wouldn't take much.

Remember those old TV ads, urging you to buy a bazillion acres of Montana land for just a dollar? (Or something like that?) I wonder if anyone who jumped at that chance ever got a good return on their investment... or at least a decent place to live?
