Well, I guess I was wrong. There is such a thing as Cultural Intellectual Property. Here is a story from Ghana how it's being implemented there.

Is that anything like the controversy a few years ago about Lego using Maori names and words in their Bionicle toy line?

it's very creative, but why don't they just fabricate their own names and words so it's all their very own?!
I see they use Hawaiian words.
