Has anyone seen the cartoon series "The Venture Bros"

It has been on cartoon network for little over a year.

I personally love the show and I was wondering how popular the show was. It seems like alot of people didn't like it.

I was just wonderin.

I dunno its just a real funny cartoon with awesome writers. I'm not that sure if everyone knows about it. I almost think its as funny as family guy. No one ever talks about it and there is barely any merchandise available on the internet about. I'm hoping the come out with a dvd and a season 2.

If anyone is interested check out this site

very interesting ...

people want cartoons.
seeming adults searching out cartoons.
and dvd's of cartoons and merchandising based on cartoons.
they want it and they are actively seeking it.

amazing...
boy I yearn for the good ol days.

hey; aren't we busy enuff with adult stuff and suffused with a mature enuff presence of mind to NOT need or want this level of entertainment anymore?!

do you, in person, at happy hour or on the job, actually ask a co-worker:
"Hey; seen the latest teenage subject two dimensional carTOON?"
man... more power to ya if ya have that kinda "savoir vivre".

ok. it is even less clear, now after a little searching.
It's described as the hardy boys minus many I.Q. points.

uh huh.

and BROC: ya name yerself after one o' the cartoon characters. The dumbest one!?

If you don't like cartoons, don't read this thread. Simple as that... no need to be a jackass to new users who don't recognize you for what you are.

I think it's more a parody of Jonny Quest, than the Hardy Boys. I haven't seen all the episodes but I try to watch it on Sunday nights even through sometimes it conflicts with The 4400 or The Dead Zone.

Actually this thread is in the wrong forum, it should be in The Tube, not in Mixed Plate.

Sorry I'm a Looney Tunes kinda guy myself. But out of curiosity I looked for Venture Brothers on the guide then tuned in to the Cartoon Network. Dang they got some cool toons late at night! I think the one I watched was Cowboy Bepop. Dark, action comedy like. I left it on that channel while I was finishing up some paperwork (woulda finished earlier if I didn't turn on the tv duh) and realized through the credits that a lot of these cartoons are made in Japan. If I remember correctly I think Speed Racer is a Japanese product too...no?

helen

Yes, Speed Racer was originally from Japan but when it was imported to the US they used American actors to voice the parts.

Going back to Venture Bros, it takes a while to get the hang of it, the first episode I watched a few months ago was the one with Race Bannon fighting some bad guys in a plane, he wins the fight by throwing a grenade in the plane, he jumps out and parachutes to safety. The grenade explodes, the plane is on fire, makes a U-turn and then it clips Race thereby he falls down to ground and the plane goes through the Venture compound while Brock Samson is washing his car, one bad guy is running around burning and Brock turns the hose on the burning guy.

I don't why I didn't watch the rest of the episode at that time but I did manage to watch that episode at least a couple of times, it's also the parody of the Fantastic Four.

The DVD for Season One comes out on May 30 (tomorrow). And the second season episodes will be airing some time in June.

Found out that the second season of Venture Bros will start on Sunday June 25, 2006. Oceanic's Digital Guide list it as two 1/2 hour episodes. One starting at 7 pm HST and the other follows at 7:30 pm HST and repeating again at 11 pm HST.

I am guessing that the first episode might be the last episode of the 1st season while the second episode is for the new season.

I missed out on the 2nd season premire last month, but it's re-airing this week.

I was tempted to put the following as a spoiler but since this episode is over a month old, what the heck.

Dean and Hank are clones, they have died at least 14 times. One thing I don't understand is if Dr. Venture doesn't care much for the boys why does he always clone them to replace the ones that have died?

i like the show, its goofy.

to kimo, i dont know if your joking around or not. yeah, its cartoons and im a self professed geek. but in anime/cartoons they can do alot of things that live action cant. theres some good stories out there, dont be biased just because its an animation.

and then you get stuff like south park.

btw, i think you can catch some of the episodes on youtube.

When this thread was first made the author placed the thread in the Mixed Plate forum and not The Tube forum, this may have caused some confusion.

Tonight's episode (9/24) hinted that Dean and Hank's mom may have been a woman who used to protect Dr. Venture, assuming said woman wasn't making things up.

And the Monarch trying to be a really bad guy mistakes his accountant's office building as the secret hideout for Dr. Venture.

You have to hand to the people who make the The Venture Bros., they tend to parody other cartoon series by showing them as aged characters. Tonight's episode used the Scobby gang as adults, of course they had different names.

Yes, that was hilarious... I like how Dr. Venture explains away the clones of themselves to his sons in such a silly nonchalant way.

Did you see Robot Chicken? I love that show... I think it's great that people my age (I'm 31) are finally making it into positions of power in media and can make fun of all those things we loved as kids.

As much as I am a fan of Robot Chicken there is another thread dedicated to that series. Please use that thread (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=5020) to discuss Robot Chicken there.

For here it's The Venture Bros. In any event last night's episode wasn't the first time that Dr. Orpheus has been confused as a vampire, plus add to the fact that Dr. Venture is mucking around with raising the dead and calling his latest invention Venturestein.

I'm surprised there was no comment from the "Groovy Doo" gang about Hank dressing just like Fred (/Groovy Fred analogue) from Scooby Doo.

Speaking of Dr. O. I think the episode comparing Dr. Orpheus' view of the afterlife with Dr. Venture's way of resurrecting the boys was a great one. I'm not sure what my favorite episode would be though. Hmmm... actually I think it would be the episode with the pirates "Ghosts of the Sargasso" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosts_of_the_Sargasso). The ghost of Major Tom appeared looking like that howling ghost from the Scooby Doo series. There were a ton of David Bowie references in that one. I laughed my @ss off the whole time.

BTW, the theme song is done by J. G. Thirlwill (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._G._Thirlwell) who is probably best known for his Foetus (http://www.foetus.org/) project. He's one of the best underappreciated artists out there.

I love Venture Bros! I got Season 1 on DVD and have watched it twice. There's a joke in almost every line, and I really liked the last two episodes of the second season (Showdown at Cremation Creek). Dr. Girlfriend is my favorite character, but I like Brock and the Monarch too.

the beau got me hooked on venture bros. has anyone seen the eppy where the two monarch minions start off dressed as normal folk and then they get the call so they start suiting up? they start "dunt-dunt-da-da-dunt"ing that piece by Holst ("Mars: The Bringer of War," I believe)? omg. that is such the most hilarious thing i have seen on a cartoon in a looooong time!

here's the link:

btw, if you're an adult who is disdainful of all cartoons of all types...then, in my opinion, you're missing a beautiful, joyful piece of childlike soul, and life is truly tragic for you (with the tragedy being you not knowing what you're missing).

but then again, if you don't believe in souls in the first place, it may be no big. :p

oh yeah, it's every geek's dream! and i love how they referenced the toy closet during dr. girlfriend & the monarch's wedding. that had me rolling!:D

The scene that had me rolling was the time they had to take back the Coccon from the new hencemen and all they had for weapons was #21's stash of collectable toys. #24 had the use of a sword but because #21 still wanted it in mint condition he told #24 not to take it out of the box so #24 ended up wielding this box with a sword inside of it.

Yeah the show is great...kinda sucks..i think the final episode of season 2 was on earthquake day and my dvr never tape it...I haven't been that motivated to search for it but I might track it down. I like alot of one liners that hank and dean used to do in season 1. Not as much this season. Hopefully it won't take 3 years for a dvd to come out.

This past Sunday night's episode of The Venture Bros. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0417373/) focused mostly on early careers of The Monarch, Dr. Girlfriend and Phantom Limb.

And henceman #24, he was originally under Phantom Limb as henceman #24.

It seems that the theme for this season (#3) is to show the various aspects of Dr. Jonas Venture Sr.'s life and what he did when he was alive.

Yesterday's episode (7/13) showing a group of people trapped in a fallout shelter for 30 years under the Ventures compound didn't say what their source of food was for all that time.
