Tired of paying $100 just for someone to come to your house and look it over? Don't go to them, contact me!

I'll do whatever the big guys can do (virus/spyware scan/removal, installation of software/hardware, internal computer cleanup, new computer setup/preperation, DSL hookup, "make your computer faster", and more!) but for $20, because I need to get my name out there.

The perferred method of contacting me is either via email, or PM if you're a member of this forum, but if you need to talk to me in person, then just send a message saying so and I'll give you my cell phone number.

The big plus, is that if I can't fix/improve your computer, then you don't need to pay anything

So, remember who to contact when you have a computer problem!

(and my main mode of transportation is TheBus, unless you want to pick me up in Waipahu or something)

finding out many things that are not part of the problem would be part of that "on him" and that has value

I got that from Aunty Lynn. Basically, if I can't fix it, then the customer won't owe nothing, no matter how long I had to stay there or where they are.

I highly recommend Doc/Adrian. He is excellent. I wasn't able to use my hp computer after several people tried to fix it. After he repaired it, working great. No problemo. Also, if anyone is hiring ...please give this young man a chance. Someday, our Adrian will be amongst the leaders out there too. ;) ;)

Good luck to you, Adrian. As you try to get your career to launch, it's smart to get yourself out there - to get more experience and exposure for your skills, and to promote your abilities. If you can make some part-time bucks for a period of time while you finish school, having a year or two of real-world experience in your field will look better on your resume than assisting priests at Mass. (And no, I am NOT poking fun at you for listing that volunteer experience; I'm just saying that it's not a factor that's likely to help you in your pursuits.)

So...

Since we already know you here from HT.com, & you are charging us $20.00 Flat rate
to fix our computer, & you want to have your name out there & the recognition...

So once you get that popular,
& have your own business someday down the road,

Can we all still have that HT.com flat rate of $20.00 to have you fix our computer
(down the road), if we mention that we are from this forum, & we know you?. ;) *Please*
*on my kness praying & begging smiley*

That would be soo cool to just pay you $20.00!.

I know that all us here in Oahu can't afford it that much to have our own computer fixed by profesional, because of everything going up now a days, i.e. : gas, rent, & other bills, etc. That would really help all of us in a loooong run with just a $20.00 bill to fix our computer!.

We all luv ya, man. ;)

((Group Hugs)) :)

Aloha.

jeez. let's first see if he gets there at all.
right now, he is generously saying it is on him if he makes no changes at all.

I'm just getting some real world experience (so far, we've been working in Vmware and 30 identical computers in school, so it doesn't give me all of the problems a computer will go through). Maybe when I get the ball rolling on a secure job, then probably I'll take some business classes and start a small business and maybe then I'll make special deals for HiThreads people.

I don't really like to think that far in the future, or else I'll miss the tiny details in the present.

To doc1456,

It is none of my business but I cannot keep my mouth shut about how I feel any longer. I think you are just being too good hearted. Leave it to a Libra to do that ! Was going to send you this in a private message, then decided to post it right out here.

Hm...well.....I am here to tell you that I think you are making a big mistake by offering this thing for $20.00 in the first place...just my own opinion. I know if I need to have you help me with my computer at any time I would certainly PAY MORE than the $20.00, whether or not you want more than the $20.00.

Also, I think it is another mistake for you to even say "maybe" that you will give people on this forum a deal later on. All that will get you is a lot of people telling people that they know some one that will give a big discount for mentioning this forum. Sure it would be nice for people to only have to pay twenty bucks. It also would be nice if petroleum distributors gave away gas.

Prices are high. This is not my two cents worth, it is my dollar's worth

good computer tekkies get 75 to 95/hour, esp. for housecalls.
WHEN or if you arrive at that point, charge the going rate.
but don't make future promises.
Vaporware, as you should know, is worthless.

adrian
September 23rd, 2005, 09:51 AM
Until people know how good I am with computers, I feel that the only way to get customers is to lower the price. Then if business is good, then maybe I'll raise it a bit (but not much, because I'm going against the big boys).

Oh, and the way I'll know they're a member of the forum, is that I'll check their username. If they have 0-10 posts, then I'll charge them more (plus, I know most of you, so it'll be easy to track).

I would toss out the two pleading things on yer sig. then, as a sig, make a link to yer computer help web site. Not many have confidence in someone who sez they are good with computers and want to make a business of it, who also does NOT have a web site delineating their expertise, background, charges, etc..
and don't have the link say
need computer help? contact me
have it say sumpin like
"ComputerDoc - tutoring - setup - install - troubleshooting"

But the problem with a website, is that they're isn't that many good free hosts anymore.

oh and another thing. possibly the most important. gonna go into binizz fer yerself?
ya gotta develop much less of a negative, fatalistic, poor-me loser poverty conciousness perspective.
Don't find reasons ya can't do something.
Find ways you CAN do it.
they are not problems. They are challenges to see how creative you are. how much of a problem solver you can be. after all, that is your business, is it not?
people see this attitude and they will get around soon to thinking;
jeez. this kid complains alot. he ain't gonna fix nuthin of mine!

kimo55
September 23rd, 2005, 10:11 AM
scenario:
someone wants computer help.
you go to their place.
install frontpage on their computer-wannabe windoze pile o scrap metal.
then they say.
"ok. I wanna create my own web site to show off me sweet lil kitty cats and me charmin lil kids."

You come back with:

"yea but the problem with that is, there are not many good free web site companies anymore."

You, my child, should expect yer lil fanny to be whisked outta that hale quicker than last year's dust bunnies.
YOU have just proven to be an excuse maker, rather than a problem solver.
and if we hear you make another excuse, well, this will be my reply:
You may just not be cut out for running yer own business, and should instead, run to the nearest burger king where you will work under managers who will tell you what is possible and do it now, or else he will fire yer negative ass, pardon my French.

three hundred?
heyall. ya only need one!

I think if either me or one of us here find a good one for you...

I'll or We'll PM you with it, & see how you like it, ok?.

I'll look into it soon for ya.

I think I have seeing some around, & probably have saved some.
I will have to look back in my archives of the ones I have saves from before.

Don't know if they would be the ones you are looking for, but no promises & guarantees that it might be the right one & maybe it might be what you are looking for.

I or we will just look into it for ya.

Until then...

Good luck with your venture.

Good luck & God speed. :)

being nice is one thing.
coddling and "enabling" is another.
he won't get anywhere people doing his work for him. let him get out from under mommy's apron strings.

help guide him to act on his own, in his chosen direction. THAT is what nice is.

docs plan of a business class gets me because it reminds me of me 21 years ago

friend says;why don't you start your own business
I say;ok,I will sign up for some business classes
friend says;business classes? Like what?
I reply;err accounting,management stuff like that
friend says;why take accounting before you have anything to account? or a management class before you have anything to manage?

Dude if you ever fixed a PC for $$ you are in your own business!! The small business is built one customer at a time and keeping him.Thru good service and an open mind a small business is natural and easy to do,it's working for another person thats the real work most times
My small business has provided as much money as I needed with low stress and control over the direction of my life, and I can't even spell! If I needed a great speller or a manager or accountant I can hire one they work very cheap! Now needing a person with good sense and imagination for problem solving.....THAT cost $$$$$$$$ think outside the box!

I didn't expect this thread to exceed a page until next month, so please go OT somewhere else.

ok ok people we are messing up this thread with too much playing and FREE business advice
Ok last tip;The reason you cannot build a business on a heavily discounted price is if you charge $20 for a $100 job people believe thats all YOU are WORTH! Not that you are giving them an $80 discount
It's the same reason I doubt you value the business advice you have gotten in this thread because it was FREE.Now if Kimo or I sent you some junk mail that cought your eye titled "Start your PC business Today"and you paid $$ for the same stuff "Poof" insta-value
