My bro-in-law in describing lifestyle change did it this way...
As a youngster your life is like a bucket of clear water then over time as you keep pouring in muddy water the whole bucket becomes very muddy and if you continue it'll stay the same, but if you choose to change and
consistently pour in clear water eventually the bucket becomes clear water again. I liked it and wanted to share. How about some more?

That's nice. Unfortunately, my bucket is rusty so even if changing the water constantly the water is still not "clear" just like my head! :confused:

There's a Fijian saying (stated here in english) that goes... "You have a bucket to bail the water out of the boat but didn't look for it so now you're sunk." :o
