This snapshot was taken around 4:00 AM this morning, so there is a small spillover of posts that have already occured in October.

Two major items were brought up in the responses to "Book 1" of Motormouths...

1.) "Me Too" responders. and
2.) "Post Whores"

As for "Post Whores", Helen was right, no one's gettin' paid to post, so technically that slang isn't truly valid. Perhaps "Post Sluts"? lol
Anyway said, it's a derogatory way of saying someone "talks too much". IHMO

I'd rather just say they're all, "highly active members". What's wrong with that? Isn't that what a message board is for.. to be an active participant?

Someone brought up the amount of active posters vs. total membership count. This says two things:
1.) people have alot to say, but don't really wanna' say it. (like Rap's Replinger's Japodagee lol)
and
2.) There's a sh##load of LURKERS around here.

"Me too" responders are fine with me. Don't we all do that every now and then?

Also, I don't think the admins and moderators should be included in the Motormouths list, as part of their duty is to drop in and moderate "motormouthing" on the boards.

Speaking of Admins and Moderators, hats off to all of you. Honestly, job well done! :)

As of this post, I'm at about 112 since join date of May '04... about the same time lots of folks migrated from Mel's old HRTV PHP board. Coming from a (part) "podagee"-blooded braddah, that's a relatively "quiet" number. :D

as a small aside, you know that there was a fun discussion on the web about the meaning of that expression, "turning japanese", right?

No. It's about masturbation.
And discussions on the Internet about its meaning predate the web by, oh, at least a decade, right?

Well, since Kimo55 won top "Motormouth" of the month, perhaps HT can award him a personally-autographed CD single of Glen Miyashiro's "I think I'm Turning Porogee". :p :D

Kind of like that song "Whip It" by Devo.

Both came out at approximately the same time... mid-late 1980.

Also, I don't think the admins and moderators should be included in the Motormouths listI agree, there, though I am a motormouth. :p Interestingly, even if you add my posts as pzarquon and the 272 or so I've posted with my admin hat on, I'm still way, way behind both Kimo and Miulang.

I wish there was a way to get these stats monthly, rather than historically. There may very well be no catching up to the top motormouths!

Miulang
October 1st, 2005, 09:53 PM
Yeah, I think if you looked at the stats from last month alone you'll see that I come nowhere near to Kimo in motormouthedness. And I'll soon slip into the "hohum" category because I have night school twice a week beginning next Tuesday, and that will run through June. But I'm sure there will be others who can just as capably fill my spot as #2 motormouth and make me proud! :D

OK, when is the HawaiiThreads.com "Greatest Hits" CD coming out?

Not sure.

If it ever does, here's a few suggestions:

HawaiiThreads.com The Music: volume I
Track:
1.) I Tink I Turning Porogee - Glen Miyashiro (parody of "I Think I'm Turning Japanese" by the Vapors)
2.) Post It - Pomai (Parody of "Whip It" by Devo)
3.) Glenn Miyashiro - Jake Shimabukuro (Ukulele Instramental as written by Frank DeLima)
4.) I Can't Post 55! - Kimo55 (parody of Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55!)
5.) Miulang Rouge - Miulang (musical Parody)
:D

I CAN'T POST 55!
To the tune of "I Can't Drive 55!" by Sammy Hagar

One hand on the mouse and one on the pad, hey!
Well, there's too much talkin', I can't pass, no!
So I tried my best smooth-talkin' move
A big bad postah' come and crushed my groove again!

CHORUS:
Go on & write me up for 3,265
Post my thread, hey it's me that's alive
Take my HT membership n' all that jive
I can't POST.. 55! Oh No! Uh!

So I signed my name on thread number 24, hey!
Yeah the admin' said, "Boy, just one more
I'm gonna post your name in the city joint"
Looked me in the eye, said, "You get my point?"
I said "Yeah!, Oh yea!"

CHORUS II:
Go on & write me up for 3,265
Post my thread, hey it's me that's alive
Take my HT membership n' all that jive
I can't POST.. 55! Oh No! Uh!

I can't post 55! (four times)
Uh! (Solo)

When I post that slow, you know it's hard to stay clear.
And I can't get my mouse out of second gear!
What used to take two hours now takes all day.
Huh - It took me 16 hours to get to Daiei!

CHORUS:
Go on & write me up for 3,265
Post my thread, hey it's me that's alive
Take my HT membership n' all that jive
I can't POST.. 55! Oh No! Uh!

No, no, no, I can't post...(I can't post 55!)
I can't post... (I can't post 55!)
I can't post 55!
:D

I suspect the difference between the number of active posters and total membership count is the number of people who attempted to signup to Hawaiithreads and for some reason or another failed the verification process, like given the wrong email address by mistake or actually gave a bogus one. Also accounts that have been banned, deleted or closed don't make the active list.

There is however a lot of guest usage on this forum, I don't know why that is.

Hi. First time on the forum. First time on any forum in many years. Still got training wheels on.

About ten years ago I was a Sysop on a CompServe forum for a few years. Anyone remember CompuServe (sniff!)? Is "sysop" still a word?

OK, I'll send this now, just to see if my computer explodes or W. is listening in.
