if you missed this one (was it at the hiff or doris duke theater?), it's out on dvd now:

    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...s=dvd&n=507846

it won the 2005 academy award for best documentary feature. of course, not everyone thought it deserved the award but whatever your opinion, it's encouraging to see the arts as a tool for good.
525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure, measure a year?

I enjoyed this film and would recommend it. It's amazing what kind of talent these budding photographers have and how difficult it is to overcome the bad influences and desperate conditions these kids are in.

I don't know if "enjoy" is the word I'd use, but I was deeply affected by this film. I would love -- just love -- for my students to see this. It might keep them from complaining about anything for a day or two.
But I'm disturbed! I'm depressed! I'm inadequate! I GOT IT ALL! (George Costanza)

You're right, I'm not sure "enjoy" was quite the best word. It's difficult to "enjoy" anything that is pertaining to such dark subject matter. I guess I should say it's a very telling portrayal, one window into humanity, a look at people who don't seem to have much hope normally.
