From Wayne Harada's column in today's Advertiser:
"Hapa — that's Barry Flanagan and Nathan Aweau — will bring Hawaiian music to a mainstream audience when the group performs at the Hollywood Reporter/Billboard Film & TV Music Conference in Beverly Hills Nov. 15. It'll mark the first time an Island act gets such a boost. Flanagan and Aweau will be joined by chanter Charles Ka'upu and a hula dancer."
Hooray!

...the group performs at the Hollywood Reporter/Billboard Film & TV Music Conference in Beverly Hills... I should have added, for those who may not know, that Hollywood Reporter magazine (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr/index.jsp) and Billboard magazine (http://www.billboard.com/bb/index.jsp) are the 800-pound gorillas of the entertainment biz (as I imagine TutuSue and Kimo and others here will confirm).
Hapa will be playing in front of some major heavyweights... hence the "hooray!" earlier.

Yup! I confirm! While it's great that Iz's music has been discovered by film and tv, I'm glad to see that other island musicians/entertainers will have their chance in the sun.
