Okay here's what seems like a stupid question but here goes: I just purchased a Belkin Wireless G Router (802.11g). On the box it says it is compatible with 802.11b.
Now I know that if you have an 802.11b router it will see an 802.11g network adapter (newer technology is backwards compatible with older technology).
But will an 802.11g router see an 802.11b network adapter? The 802.11g router box says, "Compatible with 802.11b/802.11g" That's a bit confusing to me.
My take on this is that this wireless-g router just won't transfer to a wireless-b network adapter as fast as a wireless-g network adapter...is that correct?
The reason is because I have a a few wireless-b adapters and two wireless-g adapters. Some of the computers I have in my household don't need the wireless-g speeds so if this router can work with wireless-b adapters then I won't have to buy anymore adapters.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Mahalo

You got it. Though I seem to remember that if an 802.11B adapter logs onto an 802.11G network, the whole network (everybody's connection) slows to the B speed.
The B runs at 11mbit/second and the G runs at 54mbit/second.

Crap I hate to have to get rid of all my B adapters especially the one that's still in the box unused! And the one Trendnet B adapter I bought from some guy who used to own a Yellow VW Bug with these massive water bumpers that used to hang out in front of Wing Coffee back in the good old days in Chinatown :D

I got too many B routers already...one netgear from Da Helmet (Star Bulletin friday auto section columnist...jeez what a cheap plug!) and the other one (that two piece Linksys) from you. I gotta admit though the Linksys is a much better wireless router with less headache on setting up.
I bought the Belkin Wireless-G from Home Depot when they marked it down to $39.00 no rebate. That's about as cheap as it gets here on the Big Island.
Get me a G adapter PCI card for Austin's computer and I'll send you two boxes of BIC short bread cookies!!
Gotta sign off for about an hour. Have to do a voice over for Da Helmet for the OC-16 South Pacific Championship commercial. Das my voice! :D It's a 30-sec VO that I send as a wav file to him on Oahu as an email attachment then he attaches it to the video and viola! TV commercial!!
