I'm originally from the Northwest... so I have a weak spot in my heart for my Hawks.
This is there best season ever, and they have never even played in a Superbowl before.
If they happen to go to the superbowl... I'm thinking of a Hawaii "Seahawk" Bowl party somewhere....
Any other Seahawk fans on this board?
Anyone remember...Jack Patera, Jim Zorn, Dave Krieg, Kenny Easley, Michael Jackson (yes...that was his name), Sherman Smith, Steve Largent, Effran Herrera, Curt Warner, the Boz (ouch), Chuck Knox?
Am I forgetting anyone??? they haven't been around for that long.

How about Kamehameha school's then Boise State University then Seattle Seakhawk's David Hughes? And don't forget Willie Tufano also from Hawaii that played for Boise State then went on to play with the Seahawks back in the early 80's.

Manu Tuiasosopo, who was with the 'hicks early in the franchise. He is the father of at least 3 NFL players (Matt, Zach, and Marques), Steve Raible (current anchorman for a local Seattle TV station), Warren Moon.
I hope they do well in the Playoffs and end up in the Superbowl, but they've disappointed us once too often, folding in the clutch. It would be a nice reward for Coach Holmgren, though. He's suffered through too many "almost" seasons after having such a spectacular career at Green Bay.

I'm a Hawk fan from the very beginning (1976) so this year has been especially sweet--especially since we haven't won a playoff game since 1984 (holding my breath until next week)!!

Don't you hawk fans hate having to explain that the Seahawks and Redskins
are in two completely different states?
I've been having to explain to locals ever since I got here that Redskins are not out of Washington State!
Hopefully this game will give me some good redemption

I just say the 'Hicks are from the "OTHER" Washington! :) (You could also say the Seahawks are from the "BIGGER" Washington)...I sure hope we win tomorrow. I think Holmgren is going to remind his team that the 'Skins beat them in Oct. Time for payback...bigtime payback.

Gosh you know you're old when you remember when they actually became a team huh? San Fran has always been my team but I kinda liked the Seahawks because of Steve Largent and Kenny Easley. The Boz lol remember when he got owned by Bo Jackson that one time on the goal line? They kept replaying that... poor guy.

P.S. Well, wonder no more...I just Google'd (http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/contributor/1800158730/bio) him, and here is his bio. He made his last movie in 1996. Is he selling real estate or insurance now? :D

Miulang.... Hello... boz tried to go Hollywood...
Recently, 2006... saw him on the ABC College player of the year show....(Geez...was that the name of the show... damn...ok... maybe not..but it was just like 2-3 weeks ago!.. and he was on an awards show... I'm pretty sure it was the player of the year awards show.
He was a big waste of money for the seahawks in the long term...(Boz took the seahawks and an insurance company for a good ride and ended up with a lot of money for playing a total of how many games??? He got hurt each season and ended up quitting/retiring/errr...umm sucking up insurance money for the rest of his contract.
I remember reading a sports illustrated article about the Boz where he admitted to biting and pinching players under the pile during his college days.
However... this season makes me not even care about the boz.... but damn was i pissed then and yes... BOZ got shamed by Bo.... Bo knows Boz?

I'm not gonna be too optimistic about the Seahawks beating the 'skins tomorrow. Maybe if I don't expect it to happen, it actually will happen and the 'Hawks will get to play another game. I've been too disappointed by our local sports teams over the years to think they will ever get past the playoffs. The only time we had a team go all the way was in 1978 or 1979 when the Seattle Sonics won the world championship. Since then, pfffft. Maybe they'll be like the Cubbies and Bosox and pull off a miracle.
It would also be good if they won because they probably upset a lot of boat owners this weekend. Because of tomorrow's game, the annual Seattle Boat Show had to close down 2 days early to make way for the football game.

Wooohooo Seahawks actually won and move on to the NFC Championship Game.
Actually the Seahawks will face either the Bears or the Panthers next weekend.
That will be decided tomorrow when the Panthers and the Bears play. The good
news Seahawks have homefield advantage either way. Also it seems Shaun
Alexander was no too banged up when I saw him on the sideline. So he should
be ready to go next week.

Hopefully it will end up being the Bears v.s. Seahawks next Saturday--it would be nice to not have to go up against the Panthers' formidable Steve Smith.
I'm not a fan of football, but this was one exciting game. Looking forward to next Saturday, and glad that they'll be playing at Qwest Field.

I'm just glad they're playing next week.
Hopefully Alexander does make it back.
Any UH fans realize that this is the Same Alexander that the Warriors shut down 2 years straight?
Any of us true fans would love to see Denver vs. Seattle in the Superbowl...
Being that they both were rivals for so long in the AFC West before Seattle got moved. I remember thinking at the time... How is Seattle going to compete in the NFC!!! (I think I still have one of my old Broncobuster T-shirts)
Lets hope Seattle can make it to Detroit!!!!

What a game, what a win!
I knew (hoped?!) that Maurice Morris would carry the load when Shaun went out.
As a Seattle sports fan, the only things sweeter for me would be Ichiro hitting .400 and the M's winning the series--some day.
Let's hope for one more win and then off to Detroit.

Bring on the Panthers next Sunday! We going run circles around those guys if Shaun is healthy...
One time when I was in Charlotte, I drove past Panther Stadium. In the front is a humungous statue of a snarling black panther. I hope we can send them back to Charlotte feeling like popoki instead of wild animals. I hope the Panthers like rain, because we're going to probably have rain at game time and they'll be slip sliding away!

Er, isn't there a roof? Where is the game, anyway? Safeco?
No, Qwest Field, where the Seahawks play, mostly definitely does NOT have a roof! When the designs were being drawn up (one proposal had a retractable roof like Safeco Field, which is next door---home of the Mariners---had), Paul Allen nixed the idea of having a roof because it reminded him too much of the years the Seahawks spent playing in the enclosed Kingdome. Now you get rained on and freeze to death...just like the fans of many other NFL teams. They do have artificial turf, though.
I saw the last game the Seahawks played in the Kingdome in person and the first game the Seahawks played at Qwest Field in person. If we were playing the Panthers in the Kingdome, they would also go home DEAF. We laid claim to having the stadium that produced the highest decibel levels of noise (thanks, 12th man!) of all stadiums in the US. Playing in the Kingdome used to be so bad that the officials would call delay of game when the crowds got especially noisy so the opponent's QB couldn't call audibles. Every now and then we would also get rained on because the roof would leak.
Another little trivia note: The "wave" is reputed to have been created by rabid Seahawks fans (actually I think they stole it from the UW Huskies).

manoasurfer123
January 15th, 2006, 06:49 PM
Yes Miulang... they actually stole it from the Huskies.
I remember reading an article about it back in the early 80's about the origination of the "Stadium Wave." It was back when Don James was a coach... can't remember the exact year....
manoasurfer123
January 15th, 2006, 06:54 PM
i just did a wikipedia search...and they are claiming that it started with the Oakland Athletics.... However, I think wikipedia might actually be wrong this time.
Wikipedia does however also mention that there are disputes to the claim and that it could have started at the Husky Stadium on Oct. 31. 1981.
I'm saying that I'm pretty sure it started at the Husky stadium.

I've always heard that it started at UDub. That's a beautiful location for a stadium, too, with the lake behind one end zone.

The Stoolers were so lucky against the Colts.
Luck won't beat the Hawks. We are a solid team. We lose the MVP of the NFL in the First quarter of the game and still managed to dominate a team that beat us earlier in the season.
The Stoolers on the other hand... they don't even know how to "Sit on the ball"
Looks like the Bus had one major valve leak that almost cost them the game last week.

We're a little more pragmatic than the Steelheads. We say we're grateful to be in the playoffs and that every game is a must-win game for us. We'll deal with the Steelers if we crush the Panthers. The New York Times has an article tonight about the Seahawks and how they are making geek chic. I think they're making a bit much out of it, but it is entertaining to read: http://hawaiithreads.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
A New Breed of Pocket Protector
By LEE JENKINS (http://query.nytimes.com/search/query?ppds=bylL&v1=LEE JENKINS&fdq=19960101&td=sysdate&sort=newest&ac=LEE JENKINS&inline=nyt-per)
SEATTLE, Jan. 23 - Any computer geek who dreamed of going to the Super Bowl has found his fantasy team.
The quarterback is bald. The running back plays chess. The owner helped establish Microsoft.
The Seattle Seahawks (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/profootball/nationalfootballleague/seattleseahawks/index.html?inline=nyt-org) are Paul G. Allen's team, built in his egghead image. Allen, the co-founder of Microsoft and the third-wealthiest person in the United States, spent Sunday evening jumping up and down in the Seahawks' locker room, probably trying to keep his eyeglasses from falling off his face. It looked to be his first victory party that did not involve a merger.
"Wow," Allen said, moments after the Seahawks advanced to their first Super Bowl. "How intense was that?"
It was more intense than a hard drive.
...
The Seahawks, on the other hand, are known mainly for an owner who is worth $21 billion, according to Forbes, yet still wears rumpled suits and bulky white sneakers.
"I can't begin to understand what his day is like," Seattle Coach Mike Holmgren said. "I don't think any of us could."
If any football players could carry on a conversation with Allen, they might be Seahawks. Shaun Alexander, Seattle's star tailback, started a program to teach elementary-school students to play chess. Matt Hasselbeck, the quarterback, wore an argyle sweater to a news conference during the playoffs and traded quips with reporters. The Seahawks may slowly be bringing geek chic to the National Football League.
After Seattle beat the Carolina Panthers (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/profootball/nationalfootballleague/carolinapanthers/index.html?inline=nyt-org) on Sunday, Hasselbeck left Qwest Field with his father. Alexander had a party for friends and relatives at his home, but by 2 a.m. everyone had left and his wife was asleep. "I was just cleaning up by myself," Alexander said.
While the Steelers had a raucous celebration after they eliminated the Denver Broncos (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/sports/profootball/nationalfootballleague/denverbroncos/index.html?inline=nyt-org) on Sunday, the Seahawks simply called a huddle in their locker room and tried to express their feelings. Holmgren got up to speak. Allen followed him. Offensive guard Steve Hutchinson gave it a try. "No one really knew what to say," Hasselbeck said. "No one had the words."
Miulang
January 23rd, 2006, 07:11 PM
Yeah, this is how "nice" the team is and how respectful they are, too: where most coaches would have gotten drenched by that 10 gallon jug of Gatorade at the end of the game, Holmgren emerged totally dry.
Paul Allen, the mystery hoister of the "12th Man" flag in front of the stadium before game time, had tears in his eyes and choked up when the announcer reminded him of the days when his dad used to take him to see the Washington Huskies play.
The raucous victory party in Pioneer Sq. resulted in 0 arrests for disorderly conduct. Oh, we have our bad boys on the team too, the ones who are arrested for DUI and domestic violence, but somehow the team managed to put all that aside and play as though they were all pulling for each other.
Nice job, Seahawks. We'll love you even if you don't win on Feb. 5. You all have XL hearts and dedication.

On the Seahawks website, it says we can have an official fan club here in town if we have 10 members. The Seahawks would actually send people from the organization to meet us (players, personnel, sea gals?) if we can get people to join a Seahawks fan club. Anyone interested??
I just got back yesterday from the NFC championship game and still haven't gotten my voice back yet. I passed through Pioneer Square on the way back to Coleman Dock (and Ivar's first before getting on the ferry), and it was pretty happening. I never high fived sooooo many strangers in my life. The atmosphere was electric.
Ok, so WE NEED TO HAVE A SEAHAWKS SUPER BOWL PARTY!!!! I'm willing to travel pretty much anywhere on the island as long as there are lots of seahawk fans!!
We are totally going to win the SuperBowl!!

I'm game for an "official fan club"...
Where do I sign up?
Where are you planning on watching the game? I live close to Ala Moana also.
I know the Steeler fans seem to have taken over Dave and Busters....(I was thinking there must be a way to spoil there party....hahahah)

I'm wondering if we couldn't get something going like at Murphy's...that's a pretty cool place. I'm not quite sure where I'm gonna see the game...I'm leaning towards Ala Moana's Food Court because they have a lot of room and a few big screens. I think that would be a GREAT place for us to invade with our Seahawk party because 1) it's free and 2) plenty of parking.
as for the Seahawks fan club, on the website I'll grab the sign up sheet to start a club charter locally...just gotta find 8 more people!!
Oh, on the seahawks website, it lists local politician Sam Aiona as one person looking to start a seahawks fan club here locally...I talked to him via email a while back...so we only need 7 more people.

Hate to tell you Seahawk fans but the Steeler fans outnumber you here like 100 to 1. Go to any bar on Sunday, heck even Eastside grill has a huge Steeler group and you see the black and gold everywhere. I'm not even a Steeler fan either.
If its one place I have seen Seahawk jerseys is at Red Lion on University. There's 2 to 3 guys who walk around sporting Alexander jerseys on sundays. Maybe you can start your fan club there.
Two great teams in this super bowl. But I gotta give an edge to the Steelers. They have faced a much tougher schedule than the Seahawks and are playing great football right now. The Steelers can turn high powered Offenses off. Seattle has an exciting D but they don't seem as physical as the Steelers. The battle of the lines will determine who wins this game. I admire Walter Jones, that is one hell of a player you got there.
Even if Seattle loses this game, they are a good bet to go back for 2 to 3 more superbowls. The NFC is weak (Chicago, NYG, Atlanta and Dallas are overrated) with only Carolina and Wash in any position to challenge) and the Seahawks are 21 million under the cap. So yes, Alexander can be signed easily and the core of the team (D. Jackson, Hasselback, Tatupu, Hutchinson) is just getting into their prime. Your fan club here will grow big time.
This game could come down to 3-5 plays. Two really good and evenly matched teams.

Thanks for the tip! Have to check it out there. Where on University is it?? I know there was a Red Roque bar at Puck's Alley, is that the same place??
I can understand about there being more Steeler fans because they have a much longer more decorated history....when they were winning championships, the seahawks were just being introduced into the NFL.

Unless anyone has any objections, I think we should meet at Red Lions University on Super Bowl Sunday!!
Better to get this arrangement done early so we can get people there and put out the word maybe to the media if someone wants to do a press release...

Desperation?? Not really. There is no way I think to get as many on board as the Steeler fans simply because of history. Plus, their club has existed for 5 years. I can live with that. It's just time is of the essence with just over a week to go to get as many people who are Seahawk fans together as possible that's all.

Besides facing the Steelers in Superbowl XL next weekend, the Seahawks will also have to fend off claims by Texas A&M (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11075105/) that the Aggies "invented" the term 12th Man, which the Seahawk fans have been calling themselves ever since the inception of the franchise to denote their long-suffering loyalty.
The Aggies say they have a trademark on the term dating back to the 1920s. Well, I think the Aggies are being kinda petty because if they squared off with the Seahawks in a football game to determine who could use the name, the Aggies would get absolutely SQUISHED. The Aggies are a college team; the Seahawks are a pro team. They will never ever have to play each other, so what does Texas A&M want Seattle to do? The trademark says the name belongs to the Aggies where it pertains to "intercollegiate" sporting activities and products. Technically speaking, it doesn't say anything about a pro football team using the term. And according to the Seahawks, the fans, not the franchise were the ones who started using the term.
"..."I will say this," Lopes told the newspaper. "Our fans have been the folks that have run with the 12th man. It has not been the organization itself. We raise a flag with a 12 on it, it doesn't say 12th man or anything like that. We retired the jersey No. 12 many, many years ago and we've always sort of kept it under that context.
"But, in terms of this whole 12th man derivative, if you will, that's occurred in the mass media and the public here locally. It has not been generated by the organization, per se."
But Steve Moore, A&M's chief marketing officer, said the school has seen Seahawks-themed "12th Man" merchandise and has no way to know whether the franchise itself is producing it.
The team's pro shop is sold out of No. 12 replica game jerseys and No. 12 flags and a fan Web site -- SeaHawkers.org -- offers downloadable computer desktop wallpaper that reads: "At Home We are the 12th Man" and "On the Road We are the 12th Man."
"In the normal course of action, once someone becomes aware of it and they understand that you have a registered trademark, normally they cease," said Steve Moore, A&M's chief marketing officer. "In this case, they have chosen not to, but we are still hopeful that they will, quite frankly." ..."

Well, Shaun, Matt and the rest of the team are now on their way to Detroit. The fans in Seattle gave them a rousing farewell earlier this morning...there must have been at least 10-11,000 screaming fans at Qwest Field (more were outside the gates) when they stopped by enroute to Boeing Field to hop on their chartered jet.
This morning's Seattle Times (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawks/) has more news about the Seahawks.

P.S. That "Seattle Seahawk" hot dog that's on eBay right now with a current bid of > $10k originally cost the seller a little less than $6. I really think this whole "12th man" thing is kind of stupid...so I thought I rant about this real quick....
I agree with Miulang...
If Texas "Z & Y" had such a big issue with the usage of Seattle using the 12th man phrase...then why didn't they say anything about it 15 years ago when the Seahawks sucked...however, we still used the phrase 12th man...and even eventually retired the #12 Jersey.
That is kind of what inspired the whole 12th man for us Seahawk fans... We didn't care.... Win/Lose/Tie... We were crazy about our hawks...
You didn't see Texax "Z&Y" complaining when Seattle fans were still using the phrase 12th man when Seattle was having losing records.
Only now they complain....
Let it rest already... I feel it's almost as ridiculous as Paris Hilton Copyrighting the phrase "that's hot"....
Copyrighting phrases that are common is a whole different issue... however, I just wanted to rant about why I feel Texas "Z&Y" should just hush right now and allow Seattle to have the Glory with the 12th man phrase...(and yes...they did originate it...however... let Seattle have it for a year)

The organization itself doesn't really call it the "12th man" anyways. During the games at Quest field, they always phrase it like "we celebrate you, the fan" instead of any mention of a "12th man". This 12th man hubbub is silly. My wife and I talked it over, and we concluded that Texas A&M may be having financial problems and that they may be trying to shake the pockets of the Seahawks or Paul Allen. I bet this whole thing goes away in a flash if Paul Allen snaps his fingers and either a huge donation goes to Texas A&M or a giant building suddenly appears there.
Retiring the number 12 and flying a number 12 flag raised by a famous person before each game to celebrate the fans was a brilliant marketing move because it incites the crowd into being louder because they feel like they are a part of the team. There are plenty of fans who do buy #12 jerseys with "Fan" on the back.
See you guys at Red Lions this sunday!! what time should we all shoot to be there?? gametime is 1:30....

Circling the internet today:
Feb 1, 2006 (Seattle)
Paul Allen today announced that he has purchased Texas A&M University for $1.2 billion and will be soon closing the University and turning the property into a park with a few mixed used buildings.
Initial plans call for an executive par 3 golf course for the homeless, two Starbucks coffee shops, a Whole Foods grocery store, and a condominium project. The park is to be called "The Commons At College Station" and construction will begin at the close of this semester.
Students will be transferred to a few other colleges in Texas but, primarily to Washington State University where they will have a 'similar college experience'.
At a press conference today, Paul Allen apologized for any temporary student inconvenience and said "This ought to end any controversy about the '12th Man'."

That's "thank you" in Hawaiian, and it was perhaps the response that Seahawks Wayne Hunter and Itula Mili gave after receiving boxes of toffee-covered macadamia nuts from a radio reporter who calls himself "Super Bowl Wayne."
The radio guy came all the way out to Detroit for the Super Bowl, and made sure he ran into Hunter and Mili, the Seahawks' two products of the 50th state, to give them the gifts at Tuesday's Media Day at Ford Field.
Hunter and Mili are "local boys," or natives of Hawaii, and appreciated the gesture.
"It's just kind of 'Aloha' spirit," Hunter said. "That's how it is back at home."
Hunter said it's customary for Hawaiians on the islands to bring gifts to Hawaiians living on the mainland. ..."

Polamalu injured in practice -- now 'probable' for Super Bowl
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06033/649031.stm
Thursday, February 02, 2006
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu left the Steelers practice today after his ankle was injured. Coach Bill Cowher listed him as probable to play in Sunday's Super Bowl against Seattle.
Cowher told the assigned pool reporter that he "tweaked" the ankle. No other information was available.
A player listed as probable on the injured list officially means he has a 75 percent chance of playing in that week's game.
Fullback Dan Kreider (knee) and defensive end Travis Kirschke (groin) also did not practice today and remain questionable for Sunday's game. Linebacker James Harrison (ankle) is probable. He also did not practice today.

OK ZZtype... some explaining needs to be done????
I've been following the bulletins posts very closely....
WASSSSSUP !!!
Something mysterious is happening to the Seahawk votes that were cast!!!
I've been following the vote counts for the last 48 hours...
What happened to all the votes that were posted from 8:30 on?
The vote count at that time was 247 Pittsburg.... 290 Seattle....
Now the bulletin is showing something different...???? what is up with that???
where is the real reporting if the polls are closing without the final count???
Answers need to be had.... I've captured my screenshots... do I need to show ??? why are the polls now closed with a different count????
On a closing note... thanks for having the poll in the first place... but why have it if results are going to change?
Seahawksurfer123.... j/k at any rate... in my polls... the last time i officially checked the starbulletin.com website it was 247 Pittsburg 290 Seahawks as of 8:30 pm.
CENSORSHIP SUCKS....please explain?

Hi folks,
Just noticed this and dropped in to clear the air.
I close the Star-Bulletin poll EVERY Thursday night when I show up for work. Tonight I showed up at around 8:30 and the poll was closed about 8:45. This is because the poll results are printed in the Friday morning newspaper on page A2, which is in production about 9:00 on Thursday night.
The first thing I do is download the logfile from the server. Then I read the logfile, line by line, examining the voting. I find all instances of ballot-stuffing and remove them from the vote, then I re-upload the poll log with the "cleaned up" vote count and close the poll.
That is why you saw the numbers jump. I kill all the overvotes. Believe me, it is OBVIOUS when you look at the logfile.
Of note, I found NO ballot-stuffing for Pittsburgh, but there were quite a few, by a couple of people, trying to pump up the Seattle vote. It didn't work.
Good luck to both teams this Sunday.

The $5.00 Hot dog finally sold on EBAY for $1800.00 and it wasn't even a Devout Seahawk fan!
AP:
ARLINGTON -- A $5 hot dog from the Seattle Seahawks' N-F-C championship victory over the Carolina Panthers has brought $1,800 in an online auction on eBay.
The winning bid from Golden Palace.com, an online casino known for buying oddball artifacts, was posted a scant four seconds before the deadline of 6:30 p.m. PST Thursday set by Josh Minnick, 27, Stacey Houtary, also 27, and her boyfriend, Matt Allison, 25.
In 10 days, their eBay site got more than 350,000 hits. At one point the bidding exceeded $10,000 but bidders began backing out and with less than a minute to go the top offer was $1,525.
Golden Palace had asked to be included in an approved bidders list but posted an offer only at the end, The Herald of Everett reported Friday.
As the three friends celebrated with champagne, they got a telephone call from Golden Palace spokesman Jeff Kay.
“I can't wait to get your hot dog. We're a little hungry,” Kay joked.
He said the online casino, based on Antigua and licensed in Kahnawake, Quebec, plans to include the hot dog in a traveling display of acquisitions that include a grilled cheese sandwich said to bear the image of the Virgin Mary, a kidney stone from actor William Shatner and Pope Benedict XVI's old Volkswagen.
Minnick, Houtary and Allison said 15 percent of the proceeds, $270, would go to the Grant Wistrom Foundation for youngsters with cancer and their families, leaving them with $510 each.
“That's not a bad take on $5,” Houtary said.

I don't understand what the hooplah is about the Star-Bulletin poll...it's not like it's scientific or anything. The worst prognosticators were the guys from "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" where they had fans in uniforms doing wheelbarrel races and fans in uniforms in tires rolled towards bowling pins to determine the outcome of the game...I don't see this poll as anything different heh.

On the news today, I saw an elephant (at the Fort Worth Zoo) pick the Seahawks to win, by tapping the Seahawks emblem with its trunk, instead of the Steelers one. That's all the convincing I need.
(I didn't stick around to see how the elephant predicts the point spread...eccch!)

Whether or not its true, I still think it's Game ON for the so-called "injured"
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Polamalu injured in practice -- now 'probable' for Super Bowl
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06033/649031.stm
Are you kidding me? There is now way that he ( Troy Polamalu) will not play, even if he had a broken bone he would be out there, he is better at 50% than any of the Seagulls at a 100%. HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO.

Here's a little factoid about the Steelers logo: it doesn't even belong to the Steelers! The 3 "diamond" thingies apparently are owned by the American Iron and Steel Institute, and it wasn't meant to be owned by Pittsburgh (there are other places that produced steel). The Steelers had to get permission to modify the logo and change the name from "Steel" to "Steelers".
The Seahawks logo (http://www.bellinghamherald.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060130/COLUMNISTS01/601300351/1001/NEWS) is modeled after the osprey, hawk or eagle in a quasi-NW Coast Indian motif. I think the franchise's fortunes started to change in 2002, when the current logo was adopted showing a hawk with a bad attitude. Up until that time, the hawk looked kinda like a patsy (his eyes got narrower and meaner in the redo). :p

Well as you know by now... we lost...
We must keep our heads up and realize that this was a magical season.
Yes, there were a couple controversial calls during the game...however, as a Seahawk fan, I can truly say we got out played. (I lost a little pocket money and a car-wash)
We have a good team and will be around for a few more years.
It was a good superbowl... it would have been...win/lose or tie... just because the Seahawks were in it.
Those of us in Hawaii now that are from the Northwest... know how much this meant for us to just be in the superbowl.
It has been a fun run....
Thank you all for contributing to this post for the last month or so....
Next up.... GO SONICS and MARINERS

It wasn't blow-out, it was acutally kinda close. But the Seahawks
shouldn't get down over this loss, they still had a magical season.

Looks like Shaun Alexander (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/sports/2002846958_hawk06.html) is making the Seahawks the team where he plays his whole career...All it took was offering him $62 million for an 8-year contract. Now let's see how solid the team is next season. One stellar player does not a Superbowl team make. Shaun will be the NFL equivalent that Edgar Martinez was to the Mariners: loyal to the team and the city where he gained his fame, unlike those traitorous baseball players Ken Griffey, Jr. (washed up has-been) and Alex Rodriguez.

Nah, it doesn't bother me. What Steve Largent has done since he retired from the Seahawks is irrelevant to his accomplishments on the gridiron. He represents a wireless communication lobbying group (CTIA) now and if he hasn't taught his son his "Christian values", then what can I say?
