Is this your official introduction? :p
I've been reading and enjoying your many posts (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/search.php?do=finduser&u=2552), as you've contributed to many running threads. I guess nothing really triggered the instinct to reply specifically to you. Nothing personal, Susie!
Maybe I'm just ashamed that I was actually all over the North Shore with my camera this past weekend, but didn't think to bring your photo request (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=8548) with me. D'oh!

I guess nothing really triggered the instinct to reply specifically to you. Nothing personal, Susie! Same here. Due mostly to time constraints, a lot of us only reply to things we're specifically interested in, so nothing personal, Susie... you (and a lot of others) just haven't hit my hot button yet.
Welcome to HawaiiThreads. Carry on!

Tell, please....I like know.I posted the results of my photo scavenger hunt here (http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showpost.php?p=71789&postcount=262). It was related to my obsession with a locally filmed, nationally broadcast TV show you may have heard about. :)
Well, Susie, as we've now amply demonstrated that we're not ignoring you, and since we are in the Introductions thread, why not tell us a little bit more about yourself, in addition to the bits and pieces you've shared in other threads. And how's life in France?

Sounds like alla you guys have to do alot of running around, over dere, just to keep your noses above the water line. WHAT HAPPENED to the Hawaii that I know!!!??? Homelessness, rents out of control, house prices skyrocketing, racism and even xenophobia!
Any good stuff to tell a homesick local? Get jobs? Free concerts? Aloha Spirit?

Oh, no! You was right DERE...right at Dillingham!!! No wonder you feel guilty. Never mind. Is the Polo Field still there?
I don't have a TV, and I'm not sure that program would be shown, over here, anyway. From the looks of this site, you guys certainly do watch alot of TV.
Life in France SUCKS! Well, next to life in Hawaii, anyways. Only haoles, here, it feels funny.
Actually...there are some parts that are pretty good, education for the kids, for example. They stuff more into the head of a small kid than you can imagine would ever fit. Not so good on imagination and initiative, though, but more on memory and force-feeding (more on that, later).
Plus, my kids get to be bi-lingual, cause we speak english at home (how else could they be able to speak to their Granny?). Not many locals like that I speak my own language in their country...I get to know exactly how the Mexicans immigrants must be feeling.
The four seasons are cool...except that I don't much like winter, with it's cold and dark days. I've become quite the expert at tulip propagation, though, and watching the trees and the plants change, all throught the year, is a never-ending good show.
The food is very good. Many of the younger generation don't cook too much, anymore....but nothing like with you guys, going out for every meal, and having Mountain Dew for beakfast....the street where I live is filled with grannies. At noon, all you need for lunch is a piece of bread, just walk down the street, and the good smells will fill you up.
I live in a farming community, it's mostly ducks. They're force-fed, in order to make foie gras. Lots of corn growing here, cause that's what the ducks are fed with, boiled corn and pig fat. Some pigs, too, and chickens. And fruit, mostly apples and kiwis.
I still go barefoot...can take the girl out of Hawaii, but cannot take Hawaii out of the girl.

To talkstory. About whatevahs. The best way to understand the character of a place, any place, is to immerse yourself and participate. Some friendships will be forged, some feathers will be ruffled, but in the end, you'll be better and hopefully happier for it.

So...I gotta get used to you guys, and you guys gotta get used to me.
Maybe I been gone too long....I would HATE to think that this is the 'aloha in action' welcomewagon that people get in the real-world Hawaii, too...of course, from what I can see, of the high prices, and the mainland folks invading, the traffic, and the public beach tent cities...maybe you no like anyone else to come, realworld OR virtualworld.
Can't say that I blame you, for dat, either.
But no forget what Hawaii stands, or used to, stand for. Don't let the crazy rat-race for survival make you forget. Bumbye you going finish jess like da ress o da world.
I came in here, cause I saw the sign at the door...you know, the one that says, "Let's talk story". Well, then...let's.

You live in one of the most beautiful (and historic) places in France. I've never had the opportunity to visit France but Aquitaine and the Pyrenees would be high on the list if I ever got the chance. I would imagine there are worse places to be in Europe than where you are!

Aloha Susie,
You do live in a very beautiful place! I chuckled when I heard the name of your blog site. My niece is living in the Normandy region teaching English to kids. She just gave me an earful about life in a tiny rural town. She can't wait to leave. She has two more months on her job. She will return to France after law school--but in a more metropolitan area.
Nice to have you in the threads!
